Poll Excited for E3? Well don't expect much if any NEW AAA games released for this generation! (25 votes)

Yep, Sony is going to be saving their AAAs for PS5 launch and MS will hype games U wont see b4 X2 12%
No, Sony will announce and release more AAA before PS5 launch and MS will too. 40%
Sony won't release any more NEW AAA this gen but MS will drop Halo6 for fall 2018 babe! 4%
MS will hype a bunch of AAAs they'll cancel or delay till X2 but Sony will release more NEW AAA before PS5. 16%
Sony will announce a ton of games that wont release for 20 years because they fear the power of Scorpio! 8%
MS had fun stringing xbox fans along this generation with lies and empty promises, some still think they'll get AAA games this gen lol. 20%

This is focused mostly on PS4 and Xbox one.

Are you satisfied with what you're system of choice has delivered to you so far? Save for the Switch, because this generation is pretty much over! If you aren't excited for and satisfied with the games that released and already know about coming Pre-E3 2018 you probably wasted you money lol.

PS4

For Sony fans, I wouldn't get too disappointed If Sony don't announce a ton of NEW AAA projects at E3 because PS5 is right around the corner and they will probably be saving most those announcements for PSX or E3 2019 closer to PS5 announcement to build hype (granted most if not all titles will be cross gen with PS4)

The bright side for PS4 here is that we already know about a bunch of fantastic looking AAA PS4 titles that Sony has already filled us in on.

  • God of War
  • Detroit Become Human
  • Ghosts of Tsushima
  • Spiderman
  • Death Stranding

This is probably going to be it for the AAA titles that release this gen (Now time fall 2019) PS5 most likely releasing fall 2019 or 1Q 2020 with small chance of fall 2020.

Xbox one

Xbox may actually have a more exciting E3 Than PS4 this year in terms of AAA game announcements. I expect some type of new Halo to be announced* and I expect a new forza Horizon to be announced unless the Horizon Zero Dawn clone has taken priority, and I expect, something else big to be announced*

The only one if any I expect to actually release this year or within this generation is the Forza Horizon IF they announce it. Now taking a look at what AAA games MS has announce so far:

  • Sea of Thieves (released)
  • State of Decay 2
  • Crackdown 3

If you're expecting MS to announce any AAA games at E3 2018 and actually play them this year or even before this gen is over you're going to be disappointed going by MS's track record this gen.

Do you seriously expect MS to drop a new Halo or Gears within this year or a year and a half when it took MS 4 plus years to deliver Sea of Thieves and it was still unfinished? Crackdown was announced n 2014 and is the biggest game of the year for xbox in 2018 and it still has no release date?

Announced 2014 to the excitement of fans set release 2016

No Caption Provided

it's now March 2018...anyone got a date on when this comes out again?

In comparison God of War PS4 was announced 2016 and is releasing next month...

CLOSING:

Face it, if your system of choice hasn't delivered for you and you still aren't satisfied with the games that have been announced to release so far...you should accept your losses and prepare for the next generation because you aren't likely to see any NEW AAA's release this gen.

PS: I am happy and accept that this gen is over for new AAA games, but some may find that harder to handle.

Microsoft needs to have some big hitters coming out this and next year they need to make up for scalebound and fable cancelations

there competing with spiderman/god of war and tons of other stuff sony is putting out so now is the time for microsoft to make things quick

I don't think there'll be a lack of AAA games at E3, but even if there is most AAA games these days seem full of gambling and lootboxes, so I won't be bothered either way.

It would be nice, but lets be realistic...look at MS's track record on releasing AAA games this gen.

Hell MS has had problems even releasing indie titles without prolonged delays like Cuphead for example.

The only developer who seems to be competent and deliver quality games within a respectable time line for MS has been Playground Games, but they are supposed to be working on the Horizon Zero Dawn clone and that would take some time even for that talented team, I.E. nothing this generation.

I never said E3 would lack AAA games...

I said NEW AAA games that would *RELEASE* within this generation!

Context!

As I said in my OP I think MS will actually show more NEW AAA games than Sony this year...you just won't be playing them at the end of the year or anytime before fall 2019 at the earliest.

And to be clear I'm talking about AAA caliber titles not indies.

There's still plenty of life in these systems. Plenty of time for each to announce and release new games. I'm thinking 2021 new console reveals and 2022 release dates.

You really think Sony won't release PS5 til 2021?

I mean Sony "could" do that but I'd think they'd want to get the jump on MS since they just released the X and be easier for MS to release X2 along side PS5 if they wait that long.

@tgob89: I'm thinking no new consoles until 2022 actually. Sony is riding the ps4 success until the wheels fall off and Microsoft just released a great system in the oneX. There's really no need to rush for new consoles.

Indeed it is, one of the games I was super excited about and was disappointed that it never came out.

Fortunately Sony didn't stop making and releasing high quality AAA games for PS4 because of that failed project.

When taking in the totality of games Sony has delivered this gen it is expected that a few may fall through the cracks and Deep Down was that game, though I'd still love to see that game even on PS5 if need be.

Terrible poll choices so no vote from me. I am very hyped for this year’s E3 regardless of if the games shown are either new IPs or already established franchises. I am most looking forward to Microsoft’s conference.

Not really.

My poll is dedicated to reflect what people think about NEW AAA games being released within this generation.

Do you think any AAA games announced at this years E3 will release before fall 2019? I mean games announced from Sony or MS that is?

Were people expecting a repeat of last gen? Because that wasn't going to happen. Last gen we saw the demise of publishers and studios that made many of the games last gen. It takes lots of money to make modern games, and some don't get the returns they need to keep going. The publishers that do have it figured out get demonized for trying to remain profitable. AAA publishing is contracting. Smaller studios are doing great things and are making it work.

Anyhow, there's been enough good stuff to keep me busy all gen, and I still have to get caught up on many of the good stuff I haven't had a chance to play.

I've said this on a previous forum (before I left it behind because those fuckers were even more toxic than this site). I said that most companies would be smart to target the casual/midcore gamer since their games make more profits and they're cheaper to make. Right now, hardcore gamers want expensive games when they're a minority demographic. Now they'll pay more upfront at $60, but they are complaining about microtransactions. I don't think Microtransactions are good, but you have to realize why they put them there. To actually turn a good profit for the game.

@undefined: I bought an Xbox One with full confidence, have never regretted it and won’t gladly die to protect it.

However, I did enjoy OP’s attemp to disguise bashing MS as a legitimate discussion about E3. It was very cute.

Also, GTAV came out at the very end of the previous gen so his claim that there will be no more AAA titles makes him sound like a bit of an idiot.

Meh. The next MS console will be backwards compatible with x1x anyways so the whole generation thing is really just a sony problem. As new games release for the MS platforms, they will release for pc, and at least the latest two consoles on the market, being x1x and x1 now, or x2 and x1x in the future. There's literally no reason to expect them to hold off for the next hardware jump.

You aren't too bright are you?

It's clear you have reading comprehension problems and are emotional because you bought an xbox one and are now passive aggressive attacking me for stating something that is rational in relationship to both consoles, which no one as of yet have delivered a reasonable counter argument against.

And lol no...Saying that GTAV released at the end if the gen isn't a good counter argument against my OP silly, let me tell you why.

I'll break it down for you since you need hand-holding to take a pee and tie your shoes:

1. My OP is about NEW AAA games announced at E3 2018 not RELEASING within this Gen

2. (For the reading comprehension impaired) That doesn't mean AAA games that have ALREADY been announced PRE-E3 2018 won't release before next gen starts.

3. GTA V was ANNOUNCED* Oct 25 2011.

4. GTA V was RELEASED* Sep 17th 2013.

5. If you are also mathematically challenged, that's a month short of 2 years from announcement to release.

That's BEFORE E3 2012 which = the same E3 2018 timeline I am using here (1yr/2) before the estimated start of next gen. Also GTA V isn't a PS/Xbox exclusive so example doesn't work at all here son. Hold this L!

6. Come E3 2018 there will only be 1 year and 6 months before the heavily expected release of PS5 (fall 2019).

Nether MS nor Sony have been consistent with releasing NEW AAA titles what were announced at E3 within that timeline this gen and MS (and Nintendo) have a HISTORY of holding back games for new generations. Remember the 360 drought before Xbox one released last gen? kind of like what X1 is going through right now huh!

DONE/

Now, if you're still following, you should realize there is no fanboy behind the LOGIC of my OP. You're emotional and upset because you don't like the reality of what my OP means for you as an xbox one (X?) owner. Tough!

Now did I say what I'm suggesting is 100% set in stone? Nope, otherwise I wouldn't have given poll options that vary from my OP. I am COMPLETELY open to anyone challenging my OP and I could* be wrong, however at least come with a good counter argument before trying to call me an idiot when your example effectively fails to prove your point!

Good post.

+1 for being the first Xbox fan to post a solid counter argument.

I actually agree with everything you've written here.

I don't believe MS will ditch X1X. I think they'll use it as the "base" for their the generation and they won't actually release the next hardware til 2020 or 2021.

I also actually think Sony is going to drop the Pro (as far as exclusives). And MS will absolutely fall back on their original stance with the X1/S being able to play all games going forward and those systems will be dropped from the catalog for exclusives next gen (and I also think that's for the best).

On Topic:

Your post, while still good, doesn't exactly contradict anything I've said in my OP.

You're right the generation thing IS a Sony problem, however MS will still have to respond when Sony release their next hardware when they show incredible looking next gen/cross gen games.

And how will MS respond exactly? That is when I expect MS to reveal/release X1X's first exclusives. MS is telling everyone they are working on games now...but they are completely silent on them not as much as mentioning them even in name. And why is that?

I've said this before but I believe that is because those games in development now for xbox AREN'T for this generation (Xbox one) of consoles. MS is waiting for a time closer to the announcement of PS5 to drop the bomb on standard X1 owners of their upcoming games will be X1X exclusive (outside of cross gen titles of course).

All this, including your reply, still falls within my expectations of my OP. MS may announce big AAA exclusives at this years E3; perhaps even more than Sony, but they won't release before next gen. They don't want to kill standard X1 sales before they have to and MS will announce X1X as their standard next gen system and drop the price to $450-$400 combat PS5's launch likely $500-$600.

@tgob89: It’s interesting witnessing someone collapse under the weight of their own emotions. I could write a paper on you.

Anyway, none of what you said in your reply made sense since the majority of it directly contradicted your OP. The rest was just insults.

You also seem to be confused as to what generation we’re currently in. That’s not good, dude...

ROFL again this is a perfect example of a fanboy. Look at this meltdown. I own all the platforms and find enjoyment on all of them. Fanboys always trying to make people feel bad about their purchases because they are just pathetic gamers.

Don't get mad at me your first response was like that of a 5 year old throwing a tantrum that's on you bud.

You should check yourself and your overflowing fanboy persona before trying to project that onto others.

If you noticed, I responded to @Phazevariance's post (who is a known xbox supporter and fan) with respect and thoughtfulness because he responded to the thread on topic with a counter argument and without insults and fanboy projections.

Maybe learn how to post like you have some sense and stop pretending like you did after you get called out for showing you don't!

Well boys and girl what you just read was a complete shit post made by the people trying to destroy gaming. They call them fanboys and they are not good for anything.

You're first post^

Maybe then we could avoid your childish replies trying to pretend the original bird brain post you originally made didn't exist ^ if you learn not to come in the conversation like a rabid red eyed fanboy off topic and making personal jabs people because you have nothing else to add.

I didn't think I needed to point this out, but I will since you're confused here.

I said this thread is mostly focused on PS4 and X1 because:

1. PC doesn't have generations

2. Switch already started it's new generation! So Nintendo SHOULD be in the phase of pushing out NEW AAA games as opposed Sony/MS who need to prep for the upcoming gen launch and hold back NEW projects they're working on for the right time.

ms is cross gen, i expect to see halo 6, a new ip and maybe gears or fable even vr as the x1x fully supports it, im glad they canceled fable legends cause when I played it, it was shit. halo 6 is definitely coming before or in 2019 as well as a mastercheif collection x1x patch. PS I don't really care ive only got mine for god of war and Spider-Man, maybe Detroit as i loved beyond 2 souls (nothing beats playing Ellen page riding a horse in the desert), also devs only got the ps5 tools/software a couple of months ago from what I remember, so no one is going to be porting to new hardware yet unless its for a ps5 day one release or some vr shit.

Sony is looking good even if they don't announce much.

Microsoft needs announcements badly - hopefully more than Halo , Gears , and Forza.
