What do you think was better this generation, exclusives or multiplats? What did you play more and what did you have more fun with?

Most of my favourite games this generation were PC exclusives. New Vegas is the only exception, and even that's apparently a PC-centric game. Generally I didn't consider any of the multiplats I played to be more than just decent.
With the exception of The Orange Box and Bayonetta, my favorite games of this gen have been all exclusives, so i'll vote exclusives.
exclusives, - twilight princess, uncharted 2, super mario galaxy, MGS 4, crysis, valkyria chronicals, infamous, killzone 2/3, they were some of the best/my favorite games I've ever played.
EDIT: there has also been alot of fantastic multiplats too :D
There are probably more awesome multi-plats than there are exclusives, but my favorite 2 games so far are PS3 exclusives.
I would say they are about equal really.
Every generation its Multiplats in my opinion or atleast 3rd party games or so. the majority of my games are and were multiplat.
lets see.. favorite games this generation so far.
Exclusive:
Uncharted 1 : Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves
God of War III
inFamous
Civilization 4 (it's this generation right)
Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots
Resistance : Fall of Man
Multiplatform:
Fallout 3
Fallout : New Vegas
Assassin's Creed 2
Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Battlefield : Bad Company 2
That's about all i can remember at the moment. I have enjoyed many many games, but when i think of favorites, these come to mind directly.
I liked Dead Space 1 and 2, i like Ratchet games, and Heavy Rain, and many others. but i wouldn't put them up as best of the best or my all-time favorites.
There's like 2 posters excessively voting for Multiplats, desperate much? :P
Humanity abuses power gvien to them
Anyway, imo, Exclussives are the ones that stood out of the most this generation and changed their own genres.
Uncharted 2, Super Mario Galaxy and Halo 3, Crysis/Starcraft II did just that.
I didn't care about WoW or Starcraft. The Halos and Gears were fine, I guess. Resistance and Killzone were okay. I did like Crysis, I guess, and I did play a lot of MMOs. But really, the games I played the crap out of were Bad Company 1 and 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 and 2, Chromehounds, Assassin's Creed franchise, the Elder Scrolls games, Fallout. I loath the Call of Duty games but I was dragged by my peers into that game for the longest time. Unlike Posers who hate GTA and Posers that like GTA, I genuinely enjoyed Grand Theft Auto 4. Even if "canon" is a little. . weird. . with the rest of the series. Resonance of Fate, Tales of Vesperia, Bioshock. Yeah. Multiplats meant more for me this generation. Exclusivity meant jack squat. And I couldn't keep track or even care to try to keep track of what was 1st party or second party or fifteenth party. Seeing as 170 people liked multiplats and only 64 digged Exclusivity, I reaffirm my belief that exclusivity isn't as important anymore and doesn't really decide console races as much as they used to.AncientDozerI agree 100 percent. It's mainly used as a bragging point for people that need to feel good about buying electronics. It's hilarious.

It doesn't make what he said any less true. eh i don't think so, people like nintendo and sony wouldnt be making so much exclusives if they werent still very important what this guy said. It is a large part of the reason i play on consoles as well. if it were not true. then we'd all be playing on PC, arguing over nVidia and Ati instead of Sony vs MS vs Nintendo vs PC vs other.[QUOTE="heretrix"]

See Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty.
Making a hit game isn't exclusive to exclusives.
A game's popularity means more than it's exclusivity
See: Final Fantasy. It was popular on the SNES and even mnore popular on the PS1, PS2 and PS3.......And 360. Oh and the PC.
Multiplats were always popular though, like GTA last gen but ti doesn't make exclusives less importantTintedEyesI never said they weren't important, I said they weren't as important as some people say they are. In the end they are all just games. They die or thrive due to how well the public recieves them. What system they are on is secondary.

Heck! I'll be damned if MGS4, FF13,vs13, Halo, RDR, GOW3, UC1/2 would be ported to pc... Saving money for ps3.. ^^[QUOTE="heretrix"]It doesn't make what he said any less true.

Exclusivity just isn't that important anymore. GTA? Jumped. Demon Souls? Say hi to Dark Souls or whatever it's called. Final Fantasy? Hello multiplat. Mass Effect, Bioshock, Metal Gear. Multiplat. More and more games are going multiplat. Even Fable and certain other Microsoft games are also Games for Windows. Exclusivity and First Party don't make as big a difference as they used to be. I mean, look at Call of Duty? Not exclusive. Yet one of the best selling games of all time and apparently, according to some of our peers, the sole reason that the 360 survives (Is it really that much more popular on the 360?). Even BLIZZARD is considering in some way bringing (again) one of their IPs to the console arena.AncientDozer
COD sells a lot likie GTA sold a lot last gen, multiplats selling a lot doesn't somehow make exclusives less important, and why are you listing games like ME Bioshock and Final fantasy when they were never exclusive?

People seem to be misunderstanding my comment.
exclusives not being as important this generation as they were last? i'd agree with that. but are less important no?
from a corporate AND general public view, a hit exclusive IS important. If you want Mario you go straight to Nintendo, if you want MasterChief you go to Xbox. Argue technicalities if you wish with emulators and Halo 1 if you like, but from both those pov, you go straight to the brand.
if you want Call of Duty just pick it up on whatever platform you like best, and call it a day.
first party exclusives do matter, if they did not they wouldn't still be bothering to make them. All three console makers experiment each generation with new IP's looking for the next great hit, and so long as they continue to make profit, they will continue to support it. Largely because they are exclusive and they lend an image to the console they're trying to sell.
Think Mario you think Nintendo, you think Halo you think Xbox, and when you see a Helghan you think Playstation. You want to play those games go pick up their machine. You know a platform is working whenever someone says Nintendo/Playstation/Xbox on a TV show or movie, when it gets to be said by name, the general public takes note of it.
and we shouldn't have go through the arguement of sales =/ quality thing again. Just Dance sold buckets more then a lot of other hardcore cores games, yet i'd see very few hands here on these forums would be amazed by it. Just as nobody would call the Transformers movies anything better then a decent popcorn flick, and yet it made hundreds of millions of dollars.
Speaking for myself i picked up PS3 because i wanted the great library of exclusives, it has a robust first party development team, and it was more suited to my tastes. Then you got the third party games.
Third party exclusivity is dead this generation, that much has been proven quite abundantly clear this gen. but first party is anything but dead/dying.
