Exclusives which can justify purchasing console just to play said exclusive.

Who here would buy a console just to play 1 exclusive? After all a console only costs $400 or less depending on where you live. I would easily buy a PS4 just to play Uncharted 4 if I didn't already own one, other games which could justify purchasing a console just were included:

MGS4 - PS3

Uncharted 2 - PS3

The Last of Us - PS3

Gears of War Trilogy - X360

I wish I could say Gears of War 4 or Halo for Xbone but sadly all these games are now B-grade, really not worth getting a console just to play 2 games which are as good as an eidos or ubisoft game - which isn't that spectacular.

Can you justify purchasing a console just to play one game? If so what would it be?

Demon's Souls was the only one so far in the last couple gens.

Otherwise, N64 had some great reasons to purchase; same with PS2, PS1, SNES and NES. You could also stick the Genesis in there if you wanted to.

I like playing games and all, but I probably wouldn't spend $400 + price of the game just to play a single game.

Nobody buys a console for a single game, that's idiotic, a certain game comes out that makes the system finally worth owning for said person...

It's all really subjective. I don't think most games anymore, in the last few years are that good. But then I've always had a really eclectic taste in video games that a lot of gamers do not have. To me Hotline Miami is one of the best games you can play on the PS4 - to most other people it's probably The Witcher 3 or Uncharted 4.

I also bought a PS2 just to play the Sly Cooper and Ratchet series, but I'd say that was more of a rash decision than a testament to those games' system selling qualities.

Bought a 360 for the EA NHL series and Halo.

If NHL was on PC, I would never have switched to a console.

Bought 360 just for Vesperia but I ended up enjoying Gears too. Might be the only console I bought solely for a single game.

Reason I bought these consoles post 360:

• PS3: Uncharted, God of War, MGS4, TLoU, Kingdom Hearts HD, Persona, a bunch of Tales and various other JRPGS
• Wii U: Smash, Zelda and Mario Kart
• 3DS: Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Tales of Abyss
• Vita: Persona 4G, Ninja Gaiden Sigmas
• PS4: Same as the PS3
• Xbone: Bought this just to continue to make use of my current 3 yr XBLG subscription and carry over my GT. Nothing interesting on it that isn't on PS4. (note that I thought Gears was down after the flop of Judgment when buying this)

One game? No, but I did buy the PS2, PS3, and PS4 for only 2 or 3 games.

No single game could make me buy a console. I tend to wait for games to be on a deep discount before I buy them anyways. I've gotten cheap in my old age.

360 - Dead Rising, Mass Effect 1 and either Gears 2 or Halo 3.

PS3 - Infamous, Uncharted 2, and either Resistance or Killzone 3.

Not adding my favorites or GT or Forza cause most of you don't care.

I may have bought for a single game back in the day, but nowadays I wouldn't. More expenses generally means i'm a little more diligent with my funds.

I'd buy a PS4 for Uncharted series. Planned to get one but waiting on neo release now as just got a new PC.

If you have the money for it, why not? If not, then its a waste of cash. But 400 dollar isn't much that much if you have a job.The only game that slightly interest me on the ps4 is bloodborne. Might be a better idea just to use a friends ps4 instead of buying one, cause after playing bloodborne, it will likely become obsolete.

I pretty much bought the original Xbox just to play Panzer Dragoon Orta. I absolutely loved the series on the Sega Saturn, so i always felt that i needed Orta aswell.

And it definitely didn't disappoint. Orta is a brilliant game, well worth the 50 bucks i spent on a used OG Xbox.

I was most itching to play Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall when I got an Xbox One. If it weren't for Persona 4 coming this year (hopefully) I wouldn't have bothered getting a PS4. Bayonetta 2 might have been the big reason that pushed me to get a Wii U, that and SMT x FE which I've already forgotten about.

For just one game ----> NO

For 5-6 games ----> probably yes

For 10 games -----> YES

some games carry a lot of weight. i knew i was getting a wiiu as soon as xenoblade was shown for example. it was just going to be a case of when, not if. but i also like nintendos other games so the wiiu would be worth the purchase.

i probably would get one just for xenoblade...but only a second hand one that is really cheap. i wouldnt pay a few hundred quid to play 1 game.

i really only consider a console when i see 5-6 games out for it that i will buy with it.

An honest and true answer, but I wanted to be fair and list games that might also be worthy for other systems as well.

In my eyes there will be few if any games that will ever blow me away as completely as I was when I first played that legendary game.

I bought the WiiU to play Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101, I bought the PS4 to play Bloodborne. I honestly don't know why I bought the Xbox One other than it will eventually get an exclusive Platinum Game, but that means, I could have just waited.

As good game as UC4 is, I wouldn't buy a console for it, it would have to be a bigger game, witcher 3 would be a stretch but most likely it would need to be a game with long lifespan. That being said I bought ps4 for Bloodborne, but I knew there would be more games coming at some point

The big reason I didn't pull a trigger for Bloodborne and a PS4 was having to pay for online. Honestly, I'd rarely ever play the console, and I really don't want to pay to play one or 2 games online.

I could go without online, but then you'd be missing some content, and that also hampers the experience.

DR3 was my first game for it. A lot of fun. Also I wanted to play Titanfall

For me, on the Xbox One, FM was the only one I cared about. Now that will be on the PC next year with FM7, I wont need that any more. Not counting Apex because of the free to play model.

That's the only thing that was bothering me with leaving Xbox is that I'd miss the FM series.

I'd say none. Not worth it to get a console you're only getting one game for.

uncharted 4

I like Bloodborne on my PS4, I don't have another exclusive I like that much and I wouldn't have bought it for it. I thought Street Fighter 5 would be better and Ratchet and Clank would be better but they're both good just not so great. I haven't gotten Uncharted 4 yet but I expect it to be another amazing Uncharted game that is tons of polish and fun but nothing particularly interesting.

I Liked Halo, Gears and Fable last gen. I have not played them this gen but I assume based on Halo 4 it is all majorly going downhill. With that said I think Dead Rising 3 is seriously fun and so is Killer Instinct, Sunset Overdrive was a real pleasant surprise that I think I enjoyed more than anything else last or this gen.

I don't think either system has a game that is a total system seller like smash bros or mario kart that has name recognition like that.
