"Battlefield 3 leaps ahead of the competition with the power of Frostbite™ 2, the next instalment of DICE's cutting-edge game engine. This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering superior visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and incredibly lifelike character animations. As bullets whiz by, walls crumble, and explosions throw you to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before. In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines where they will experience heart-pounding single player missions and competitive multiplayer actions ranging across diverse locations from around the globe including Paris, Tehran and New York.

FEATURES

Frostbite 2– Battlefield 3 introduces Frostbite 2, the incredible technology that takes animation, destruction, lighting, scale and audio to new heights. Built upon this powerful game engine, Battlefield 3 immerses players physically and emotionally to the world around them like never before.

Feel the Battle— Feel the impact of bullets and explosions, drag your fallen comrades into safety, and mount your weapon on almost any part of the terrain. Battlefield 3′s cutting edge animation, spectacular visuals and real as hell battle gameplay attack your senses and make you feel the visceral warriors experience like no other FPS.

Unparalleled Vehicle Warfare— The best online vehicle warfare experience gets even better with a fitting sonic boom as fighter jets headline impressive lineup of land, air and sea vehicles.

Urban Combat— Take the fight to iconic and unexpected places in the USA, Middle East, and Europe including claustrophobic streets, metropolitan downtowns, and open, vehicle-friendly landscapes as you fight your way through the war of tomorrow."

Here is a twitter conversation that went through Alan Kertz and DICE:

Demize99Alan Kertz You'll be able to lie down on the job.Demize99Alan Kertz I have no comment on Battle Recorder.#BF3

Demize99Alan Kertz Yes, really prone. Don't worry about the balance part, I've got it covered…I hate shooting delays. There's plenty of other ways to balance prone than keeping people from shooting… I see prone as a tactical decision, become a small target, give up mobility.

Demize99Alan Kertz MoH MP and BC2 used the same weapon and FOV systems…BF3 is an upgraded version.

Demize99Alan Kertz Tracers are in, period. Players need to feel the fire fight, and tracers add to that feeling. You can hide other ways… No, no tracer darts. That's a bit too BC and not enough BF.

This is pretty cool, looks like they really want a fine line between Bad Company and Battlefield. I find it interesting how they talk about dragging your fallen comrades, and feelingthe experience. Does that mean it'll feel like something along the lines of Killzone? Also there seems to be lots of different map types or diversity, we'll have maps with corridors, and open areas. It seems like there will be more urban areas too. There might be a downside to prone, and maybe now we'll be able to actually mount sniper rifles? They also seem to talk a lot about animation. Will we see a big difference in first person animation, like what they're trying to achieve with Killzone 3? I'm extremely excited for BF3, can't wait!

Everything is sounding great, and this could easily become my favorite FPS :). Although I am confused about the last tweet. First he says there are tracers then there are not. Am I getting confused?

At first he said tracers, but then said no tracer darts. So we might have tracers instead of tracer darts? I really didn't get that too much either but it was the sentence after that got my attention.

haha ok, still confused but yeah thats interesting. I am wondering if spotting is going to be in the game. Although I dont really mind it in BC2, I think I would prefer it stay out in BF3, or maybe have it so the spot lasts for only 3 seconds or so and only shows your squadmates.

If you ask me, it sounds like it has too much elements from Bad Company. Hopefully it will be a true sequel to Battlefield 2.

As long as the jets aren't unstoppable gods as they were in BF2 and the cone-of-fire system is throw away, I'm happy. That, and it being able to run on a 2.9gHz dual-core CPU would be nice as well. :(

I don't know how much you OC'd and I don't know how the 460 is built, but beware, the 570 (I just bought one and I love it) only has 4....4 something lol. I dont remember what they are called, but I know if you OC it too much the architecture can result in burning your GPU :P. So be careful haha.

It's at 800mhz core, 1600mhz shader, and 1825mhz memory. Not going any further unless it's safe, might need a new PSU, it's a 550 watt.

Tracers = tracer rounds = burning magnesium or whatever so you see where your bullets are going.

Can you see where he's shooting?

I hope punkbuster isn't annoying in this, because that was one of the reasons I never got into BF2. I feel like a noob for officially starting BF fan-ness with BC though :P.

Boost it to 850/1700/2150. It is perfectly safe and stable without messing with the voltage and your 550 Watt is fine.

Spotting has always been a part of Battlefield and should continue to be. What's being debated is the implementation of it. in the console games it has been a bit excessive. You can effectively spot dudes without seeing them by spamming the spot button a little at places where dudes generally are, you then shoot these dudes without having a visual by shooting at the orange triangles that pop up on your HUD. In BF1942 and BF2 spotted targets were only visible on your mini-map.

I know, right? All the past Bad Company games and most other shooters are usually in military bases, or abandoned small towns. In Bad Company 2 all they really had (from what I remember) were some patches of buildings from place to place like in Heavy Metal but there was also Oasis, but it didn't really have an Urban feel. It's interesting to see what they do with this and the metropolitan city maps.

Sounds like the point of tracers in BF3 is purely to add to the atmosphere so, yes. Or no. Maybe.

that'd be good, usually when one person is spotted you'll get people running to that area and snipers going after em. They made an attempt to stop it in BC2 though, I remember having a spot delay where sometimes you'd press "select" or "back" and it wouldn't spot them because of excessive use. The triangles make it almost too easy.

I wish spotting was just on the mini map, but it won't stop me from playing. Anyone know if there is core and hardcore mode?

Like if New York City is an urban multiplayer map. I want to;

-Be able to go inside most of the buildings, its floors, and go up the stairs and/or use the elevators within them. All the floors open and realistic-like.

-Able to shoot the window off a building and parahcute jump from 60 floors high. =D

-Be able to, bomb the building's support beams from the basements and cause the building and those nearby to collapse in a realistic way.

-Be able to cut off elevator lines and cause anyone inside the elevators to fall to death. (If the sercuirty measure is removed from the lifts.)

-Use Support Helicopters to invade a building from the roof.

-Able to use the Subways system..

I have a long list but I will stop dreaming now =( lol

Haha, BF3 featuring urban maps is about as surprising as a bowel movement. It being realistic or not depends on context and definition. It'll probably look realistic, and it sounds like they're aiming to make infantry combat more intricate. But I highly doubt it's going to compete with your ARMA's and whatnot..

Huh I dont remember it in 2142, but maybe I have memory issues :P. Well the way I mean it is the BC2 way. I dont mind it too much, but it can be annoying in ways you described.

Also, the tracers seems like a bad thing, so why would people want to use it? I mean it shows where you are when you fire basically, so I don't get how it is benefitting the person shooting :P.

I just now realized there are tracer rounds in the one image of the game, and it looks pretty dark. So I'm gonna go ahead and predict there'll be at least one night map.

Ok I overclocked it and it's perfectly safe, and the original specs was 675/1350/1800, what an OC beast, thanks for the suggestions.

[QUOTE="XVision84"]

[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]Funny how my friend and I were talking about wanting a realistic urban warfare game. Next Day Comes; Battlefield 3 to have Urban Warfare! I'm sooooo hyped!!ShadowDeathX

Like if New York City is an urban multiplayer map. I want to;

I have a long list but I will stop dreaming now =( lol

ha ha, I'm a dreamer too :) I doubt that'd all be in Battlefield 3 though, it's too much. We're gettin there though, I also dream of games where you put on armor, pick your guns, grenade, etc. (put them on real time in First Person) and then go into a flying vehicle that carries a squad (like the one in 2006-7 killzone 2 trailer) and then have airfights, huge ships fighting, then the vehicle would carry the squad to a point where they dispatch and have epic groundfights. At the start they'd spawn in something like an airport, and so much more, I don't want to make this long. Hopefully we'll be able to do all this stuff in a decade, I wish :(.

[QUOTE="Iantheone"][QUOTE="McStrongfast"] Tracers = tracer rounds = burning magesium or whatever so you see where your bullets are going.McStrongfast

Would this mean epic night battles?

Sounds like the point of tracers in BF3 is purely to add to the atmosphere so, yes. Or no. Maybe.

I'd go as far as to say that it's the Urban map since everytime they show off the urban backgrounds in the picture in your sig, and the teaser trailer. It certainly looked great in Crysis 2.

I didn't play BF2142, so maybe you don't. But I think you do. Would be weird if that wasn't in. Anyway... Yeah, I don't know about tracers. Supposed to be every fifth round Wikipedia says, but DICE doesn't have to abide by stupid reality rules. And right now I can only think of what tracers being implemented in BF2 would be like, and this won't be BF2, so I don't know how big of an impact it would have on target acquisition and whatevz.

Everything is sounding great, and this could easily become my favorite FPS :). Although I am confused about the last tweet. First he says there are tracers then there are not. Am I getting confused?

ravenguard90

At first he said tracers, but then said no tracer darts. So we might have tracers instead of tracer darts? I really didn't get that too much either but it was the sentence after that got my attention.

Hm... Tracers, but no tracer darts? Gonna be interesting to see what they have in store :?

What's not to get? He is taking about Tracer Ammunition. Something like 1 in every 5 rounds is a tracer round so you can see where your bullets are going.

The Tracer dart was that lame thing in bc2 where you shoot a dart onto a vehicle so you can lock on with a missile.

EDIT: Someone beat me to it. Sounds like it is put in as a way to discourage camping i.e. if you camp in some random part of the map, people can see exactly where you are every time you shoot. The vapour trails from sniper rifles in bc2 had a similar effect. I'm just hoping that FB2 isn't as damn horrible with hit detection as the previous version. "OH LOOK, THAT GUYS HEAD IS STICKING ABOVE THAT ROCK. BOOM, OH THE BULLET HIT THE MAGICAL INVISIBLE ROCK BARRIER INFRONT OF HIS FACE HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR".

Interesting. I still feel it is almost a disadvantage as it seems it would blow your cover. Maybe I am wrong though.

They use them in real life to keep track of amunition amounts, as well as allow you to aim machine guns without looking down the sight. As well as for signiling.

The one game that actually had them implimented right was the Project Reality mod for BF2 but I doubt BF3 will actually be that in depth.

Well, that's why they said you can hide other ways. ;) It also adds a bit more thought into when and why you're shooting.

I never felt the experience in Killzone TC. However, I did in BC2 more than any other multiplayer shooter. I can't wait for this. :D
