Face it haters, the Wii is here to stay.

Its the fastest selling console EVER. beating even ps2. if people think that the console, after such a display, is being a "fad", should seriously reconsider. If we defy all logic here and call it a fad anyway, we can easily say that Mp3, SMG, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, Wii fit, and a few others will sustain its life very very long. especially the big 3, has such a large appeal, more so than halo 3, that its gonna keep hardcores and casuals buying the system for a long time to come. and based of what we've seen on all 3 games, none will dissapoint. and lets assume the wii "flops", it will still be worth buying when the price is down below 100 dollars, just for the amazing games that are on the system. so even in the worst case scenario, it will continue to sell for a long time.

it has just been proven that there is a market for the hardcore with Wii. Resident Evil 4 Wii edition sales surpassed capcoms prediction by a large margin and is almost singlehandedly responsible for capcoms unexpected profit. DQ: Swords, which seems to be a standard game at best, sold 300 000 in japan the first week. if that doesnt tell you that there is room for JRPGS than nothing does. Next year there will be mario kart, probably pikmin, a new final fantasy game that will sell really well in japan, Tos 2, Disaster, and of course many that we dont know about. And of course wii fit, which will sell, despite your hate. I mean think about it, even "crap" games like mario party 8 and such are always top 5 on the total sales chart when they come out. surely, when better games come out, they will completely slaughter the competition? and all of this is giving 3rd party developers such reassurance, that 2008 and 2009 is bound to have at the very least decent support by 2008 and 2009, worst case scenario.

face it. when all is said and done, everybody will have a wii. there will be enough quality games to justify a purchase, even the biggest wii hater will probably get one in the end. with controls that are probably going to be standard in all next generation consoles, its cheap, there are a lot of quality games, that will always look beautiful, no matter how advanced new graphics will get. at least its going to be a perfect secondary console. and thats the worst case scenario.

I actually agree with this guy. Those are all my niggles with the wii summed up. Once the good games start rolling out this/next year though, i'm set and i'm happy so i'll just wait for now ^_^

Everyone will have a wii, but will think of it a secondary console to complement the 360 or ps3. In other words, most ppl will buy the wii first, than a 360 or ps3.

I don't care how much it sells. Right here and now I don't like my Wii, its games or whats around the corner. Its my right to think that, just gotta decide whether or not to keep the thing.

okay.... however please do me a favor and repeat after me:

"Dragon Quest Swords is not a hardcore game".

This will, in the future, save you a great deal of trouble. The moment you look at an on-rails hack-n-slash game, with the RPG, stat-management, and combat elements amazingly simplified from the series whose title it's piggybacking on- or for that matter a sequel to a plug-n-play TV game, you need to be able to see that "oh, this isn't hardcore". If you cannot do that, you can *never* claim to understand the hardcore market enough to speak about them.


I don't personally consider the Wii a "perfect secondary system" - I consider it a perfect waste of money as a hardcore gamer because it provides so few games that interest me. I don't find any of the games (including TP) that I've played on the Wii to be particularly engaging, and recently playing Super Mario Strikers with my brothers, I was hugely annoyed that the Team Captain's special mega-strike kicks were replaced with an idiotic "block the shot with the Wiimote" minigame.

So the Wii's going to stay around a bit longer - that doesn't automatically make it a good thing - there's a lot of untreatable cancer in the world, does that mean we should cheer for that too? You list great sellers yet I see very few appealing games on the Wii - and when compared to other systems, games like Disaster, Crystal Chronicles, and RE4 port are poor placebos for the deeper, better games we see on other systems.

Haha, before the end of this year, a lot of these haters will have, at the very least, walked into a walmart or an EB Games and looked at the Wii, seriously considering to buy it.

Oh yeah, here they hate on it. Here in system wars where they're safe behind their computer screens and keyboards, they can bash it freely without worry of backlash other than that from other forumites. But in reality, if they have a Wii, they don't hate it. They may not play it much, but they don't hate it. And before the end of the year, there'll be no reason to blame the library for that.

I've been talking my arse off about Bioshock, Mass Effect and Killzone 2. Until I got to about level 35 the only place I whent to was the Wii forum believe it or not.

I liked the first two Primes but not enough to want Prime 3 just for its motion controls, if I want my Prime fix I'll just play one of the first two again I'd rather spend that money elsewhere. I'm bored with Mario platformers and I've never liked party fighters (ever), so thats where I stand on ''teh big 3''.

Because it's not absurd. There's no reason not to be impressed by it. It's going to be a fantastic game and easily the best platformer of the year, if not the generation.

Because it's not absurd. There's no reason not to be impressed by it. It's going to be a fantastic game and easily the best platformer of the year, if not the generation.
