I can see people having their own favorite, but it's just ignorant to say Mario isn't gaming's most popular icon.

Marios obviously. Nintendo was the company that jumped started the gaming industry after the Video Game Crash of 1983.

The top list of most recognizable faces based on number of games sold would probably be as follows:

Pikachu/Pokemon ~ 180 million

I would say Master Chief and Mario are the most popular gaming characters. It would be hard to find anyone that never heard of them regardless if they are into games or not.Jamex1987

You do know it's accumulative of all the pokemon games sold right? It's not one game on one platform. The same goes to mario who has so many titles.

Kratos and Gordan Freeman Are not even close to the face of gaming. It is silly to even think they are.

Pac-Man should be on the list also. The face of gaming is game icons. The ones the anyone will know and not only the gamers. Everyone knows who pac-man or Mario is and I am sure master Chief is really close to them also.
