lol I like that quick edit you did on you title. You would have been in a bit of trouble if you let that stay. But yeah, the Japanese consumer market prefers their own brand of characters. Slender, clean-shaven, long-hair. Feminine features, etc. etc. There is nothing wrong with that but hey whatever floats your boat.

i love the jp games if it wasnt for all the fantasy like games i wouldnt even be a gamers i hate the realistic style of gaming like i can live in real life i would rather see fantasy made warriors. dragons, warriors all that cool stuff. rpg, action games for me. i cant stand shooting games really i hate gears hate halo hate fall of man only shooters i like is star wars battlefront 2 and battlefield 2.

Japanese love compelling stories and vulnerable characters. Gears delivers in the gameplay and graphics department in spades but is a lil lacking in the story and character development department. On the other hand, FFXII delivers on all fronts, most notably story and character development. Marcus can kill all day without so much as flinching, whilst sumone like Snake is haunted by the people he has killed in the past. It all depends on taste...do you want pre-kryptonite superman, or sumone you can relate to?

This is wrong as well. PLENTY of western games have great character development. This thread was not about character development as much as it was physical character design. Please don't go and talk about how Japanese games are so much more emotionally involving and characters are better developed than western games. This is simply NOT true.

Western games?...As you can see...I have only refered to 3 games, Final Fantasy, Gears, and MGS. Now unless Gears is the only western game there is, i think u assumed too much from my statement.

And to be fair, not all people like to play with people who look like sticks with feminine heads on them. Look, all I'm saying is TC made a FAIR observation. Not ALL lead characters in Japanese developed games fit that description, but the majority do. It's a matter of personal preference and personally it doesn't matter to me how the character looks as long as they have a personality I can relate to.

Actually it's the other way around. You can take any female character and dress her like a male. You would still think that it's a girl, but the voiceacting and hints that she's a man give it away.
