I don't know about MGS4 because I've never played it, but I can safely say that Fallout 3 is epic.ch-ch-chaoguy+10 rep. Admitting you haven't played a game rather than just bashing it blindly :D
Eh. I thought it was a really good game, but it still suffered from the lame dialogue and bad cinematics of Oblivion. I wouldn't call it my favourite game of the year.
However, I did like it more than Grand Theft Auto IV, and about on par with MGS4, so I still think it could be getting more Game of the Year awards...
Fallout 3 is really awesome, but not quite GOTY for me, it slipped in a few categories, but it was AAA overall. 110million
I didnt like it at all. First of all there were too many missions that had you going into sewers that all looked exactly the same. Realistic? maybe. Boring? YES! Then there was the fact that almost all of the skills you could learn were useless. The only useful one was the repair skill. Then comes the archaic feeling gunplay. I don't know why whenever a dev makes an open world game, the gameplay becomes crap. Yes, its great that I can explore the world, but please...dont sacrafice gameplay for freedom. Why can't I have a game with great gunplay and AI like in the Half-Life, Halo, Gears, Resistance series but in an open world? The Oblivion, I mean Fallout3 gunplay was atrocious. Sure VATS was pretty cool but AP is kind of pointless when you can just blast sumone to death manually. Whats the point of AP when im using a shotty?
The story was a bit "meh" but thats very subjective and im sure a lot of people enjoyed it. Then comes the world....Look I realize its post nuclear holocaust, but for the love of god...can we please get some vareity? This game world was so boring...no wonder they could make it so big. It was just a large copy+paste job :( I didnt like it at all but im guessing it must be me because a lot of people love this game. And I also happen to be one of the few people who hated "Blog of the Old Republic" , I mean KOTOR. Seriously, that game could have done with less dialog. I have nothing against long cutscenes and dialog (MGS fan here :D) but i have a problem when the characters are static the entire time! :x snoozefest :(
Man, that's a great shame. 4 days ago, someone made a similar thread. Greatness has been ample this year, but only one game can take the game of the year award. Yes, only one game.Floppy_Jim
I think I should buy mgs4 now..

I use VATS almost exclusively to save ammo. But otherwise I agree. Older games could have tons of dialogue because it was all text. I can read far faster than some voice actor guy can speak the same number of lines. Now I just get annoyed by these dumb characters pretending to be acting in really fake sounding voices and expressions. I didn't even really notice the story. but the nuclear cars and blowing up atomic bombs was kind of dumb, you'd think that after surviving a nuclear holocaust that people would hate anything nuclear forever. Also the absolutely horrible animations would jar me out just as I was starting to fall into the game world. Terrible immersion breaker.
Every single Bethsda game I have ever played, I have hated. After Oblivion I swore I would never buy another game from them. But, I love Fallout, so I had to pick it up, even knowing it would probably be garbage.
But I'm loving it. I almost feel guilty about it, but FO3 is an amazing game, even coming from Bethesda. It's definitely one of the best games of the year, and deserves some more recognition.
Agree, coming from FO1-2, i had the mindset that this game was going to suck...hard, but im glad that wasn't the case, im glad that this game bears the fallout name, it does the franchise justice IMO.Every single Bethsda game I have ever played, I have hated. Even on NMA, you can see these long time Fallout fans who have been cursing Bethesda for years, and swearing that Fo3 would be terrible, suddenly switch there opinions around, and start to actually enjoy the game. I had been jokingly referring to Fo3 as TESV: Fallout, but not anymore. Fo3 is absolutely a worthy sequel.

I'm part of this as well. I didn't expect much from Fallout 3 but I was just surprised on how great the game was. Pfft they still whine. and about little things also.
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46845, Now i was a fallout 3 basher, but really this is just stupid.
I just found it funny when the reviewer of MGS4 said you can't put a price tag on what MGS4 delivers... yes you can, $60.EuroMafiaYour sig reminds me of why I love GTA IV so much. Where do you get those gifs anyway?

As a long time Fallout fan who finally bothered to pick F3 up a few days ago, I'm surprised that it's not as terrible as I thought it would be, either.
I wouldn't go as far as to call it a worthy sequel to the franchise (I've got far too many minor complaints), but it feels like a good sequel to Morrowind, if that makes any sense.
Still, I wouldn't call it game of the year-worthy.
[QUOTE="nmaharg"]At least imo. By far the best game this year. The truely great games rarely get any love.dthach614
not imo, fallout 3 is highly overrated .
whatever it beats fable 2, thats a tiny joke compared to fallout 3... no other game is as wide as fallout 3.no other game is as wide as fallout 3.Hellboard
I haven't seen everything in Fallout 3 yet, but it doesn't seem to have as much content as either of the previous Fallout games, and it looks like many of the quests take place in identical-looking underground sewers.
I'd guess that Morrowind and Gothic 3 are much 'wider', although Daggerfall makes even both of those look small.

Nice username...
lol lol lol lol I did not like Fallout 3, then again i only played it on a COUGH PS3 at a friends house, but i have played it for extended amounts of time. It just seemed a bit bland and boring..... I doubt i will get the game and if i was to get the game i would get the 360 Version. 360 Version ! I mean PC version....I played it and liked it. Main campaign is a little short but plenty of stuff to do off the tracks. For some reason after I completed it, I didn't feel compelled to replay it. I wish it didn't come out on the X-box 360, it did felt like the prostitution and adult content (other then the gore) was removed from the game. I'm aware that the 360 doesn't want any naughty stuff in any of it's games, so I blame that.
So Annoying, I wanted to collect post apocalyptic STD's to go with my multitude of chem addictions.

I agree. As much as I love Fallout 3, I'm seriously addicted to it, I don't feel bad about MGS 4 getting GOTY. It's pretty easy to see why.
