Listen, I love Fallout 3. Despite the fact that I don't own it anymore (long story, lazy fingers) I still got a lot of hands-on time with the game. It has an amazing atmosphere that feels both helpless and desolate, while still holding it's own personal charm. Exploring one of the many skeletons of architecture can be down right oppressive. Then, all of a sudden -
BOOM!
Someone moves.
The tension is snapped. The atmosphere is rendered flat. The believability of the world is broken once you see the characters in the game start moving like a robot in need of some oil. The scariest thing in Fallout aren't the radioactive mutants, it's the friendly civilians who have decided to only move one hand in the same direction while talking to you. It's a terrifying sight. Just when you think you might scream in terror, you decide to zoom out into 3rd person. Oh no.
Awesome, great game. Horrible, nasty animations. Sorry, I needed to vent.
