Fallout 4 - I have nothing but heavy criticism

Witcher, Unity, GTAV look a gen ahead. They are open world.

Why? It looks like Fallout and it feels like Fallout. You want Fallout to be something it's not?

I just watched the trailer and when I saw the dog running I had to laugh. The game's not even on par with some last gen open-world games animation wise. It's truly pathetic but it's the gameplay what counts right? In my case is more the story when it comes to these kind of games but I have never been a fan of Fallout's post-apo stories anyway. But the graphics are pretty bad and look outdated as ****.

@locopatho: well, they can't animate a fucking dog. Indie devs with less than a million dollars can animate better, Bethesda is an embarrassment to the industry

And they coudln't even put in Fur Physics for it, even when CoD did.

Thats fine. When Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out there will be no thinking of Fallout 4.

I don't care how it looks as long as it doesn't crash, have frame rate issue and very glithy stuff that just make the game terrible ... I have played Fallout 3 on PS3 and 2 of the DLC are really really really awful, it is impossible to play, frame rate problems all over the place, it crashes and in the Alien one if you don't do the last part in a very specific order you are screwed !!!

Then you go in the basic game and you have stupid glitch everywhere like a head spinning, two things merge together etc.

It was a good game but I doubt I'll every be able to play a Bethesda game again. Well I couldn,t bring myself to play any Elder Scroll that came out on the PS3 nor New Vegas.

@ProtossX: That's the sad world we live in... It's ok for a multimillion dollar Dev to put out crap. So they just keep doing it.

Going to get the signature static NPC that have no facial expressions other then mouths that move and blinking eyes. The same 5 or 6 voice actors... Dry worn out crusty quests we all done millions of times already.

Yeah this is worrying. They could hold off the Void Engine for their next huge release, the next core elder scrolls. If its the skyrim engine then it needs to have a massive upgrade to compete in 2015 like.

Obsidian isn't making another Fallout. Whether you liked New Vegas or not, it was a flop and they won't be getting another chance. If you want to continue playing Fallout, you better get used to BGS making them.

Here's my main criticism: F4 seeme to be recycling the Vault story...again!

Seriously, haven't we moved on from that by now? It was the intro to Fallout 1. We got it. Fallout 2 moved on and began with a native tribe descended from the original Vault Dweller. Fallout New Vegas started with you rising from the grave. And Fallout 3...well, that retold the Vault story for a new audience, but it retold a lot of things from the previous games, so whatever.

Now F4 comes along and...bam, another Vault Dweller with a similar intro to Fallout 3 (only dialed back to pre-war times). It's dull. As I've said elsewhere, it's Spiderman's origin story - we really never need to see it again.

Now that's a legitimate complaint. From the trailer, it does seem that way unfortunately. I guess we will have to wait and see from a real trailer.

@remiks00: using a decade old engine with sub par animations not legitimate, phew thanl god you were here to settle that.

@robokill: Jesus Christ everyone talking about dog animation? Seriously? It's a freaking open world Rpg, it looks massively improved from last gen (stop comparing it to max missed Pc versions, look at the vanilla games), the art style is more colourful, the lighting looked really good. Boston is a cool location in the mythos. And it's not cross gen. It's (so far) just about everything I'd want in a next gen Bethesda fallout sequel.

Don't understand the graphics thing though, when looking at the trailer the game looks pretty gorgeous to me. I'm really not that impressed by games like gta and the witcher 3;. Ac unity did impress me but that game doesn't have the content and story telling fallout has.

While ac unity looks and plays great, the game get's boring after a few days. That's not a bad thing, but when i pretty much did every quest in a bethesda game, i still want more and then hundreds of hours have past

I really do wonder how that dog animation looks at 4k as well... I might look a whole lot better than people expect.

I think you overestimate 2001 animations, or 2012 textures for that matter the lightning could be right though.

It's Fallout. I am very excited. I feel as if it's only graphics whores making an issue. We have been asking for a new Fallout for awhile. We finally have an announcement. Be happy. Stop nitpicking when nobody knows how the final game is going to look or play.

You haven't chosen the nicest looking picture out of the trailer there, the game look spretty gorgeous to me, it's no unity but it certainly looks better than gta V imo.

Let's not forget that a game like this has no repetive quests like unity, withcer, gta or whatever shitty game you have to play now not to get bored.

Doesn't it make more sense for Fallout 4 to have an art style similar to Crysis 3 where nature starts to reclaim everything? We should be seeing trees growing through destroyed buildings n such. It also seems logical that in the event of a nuclear war, certain parts of the world would be unscathed as nuclear missiles are aimed quite specifically and would be near impossible to hit every spot on the planet with a bomb. There should then be quite a few countries unscathed with the resources necessary to continue on if not profit from creating equipment and supplies necessary for others to rebuild theirs.

Well with mods you can do a lot of things but gta V doesn't blow this game away imo. You can feel the last gen gta V at the core of that game. The only game that's trully current gen is unity to me, but that game get's repetitive fast, something fallout won't have.

Same for gta V for that matter, cutscene there, kill this , follow that , steal that. Gta has very nice car physics, gunplay, npc behaviour etc but a game like gta V is bland in comparison to a game like fallout. Of course Falout is one of my favourite games, just like the ES series but either way. The mixture of content , storytelling, npc AI, artwork is what makes a fallout game good.

Not the technical prowess. I can play gta V for a couple of hours but then i'm bored, I can play fallout for weeks and still want more and I'm sure i'm not the only one. You're comparing a rolls royce with a porsche here, the porsche will be faster but the rolls royce just breaths class.

I just don't understand why people are saying "it looks better than Fallout 3, and that's okay," as if that's the ultimate standard.

It's okay that this is the first Bethesda game in four years, on a new generation of consoles, yet the game looks like a PC port of a PS3/360 game?

Oblivion was one of the best-looking games when it was revealed. You can and should expect more.

I'm not even expecting perfection, I'm expecting something to approach the realm of good so I can atleast see they are trying and even watching how other developers do it better. Shit look at the witcher series, witcher 2 and 3 tried to take Dark Souls combat, it didn't necessarily come close to matching it but atleast they tried to improve it from the first iteration.

Bethesda is just so fucking lazy it's unreal. And most of that blame lays with the fanbase.

yeah sure let's play dark souls or dragon's dogma, great games, but they aren't really teh same are they.

Casual or not quests and story are still better than in those hardcore ones, gameplay is debatable, especially the knight and mage characters, even animations and artwork.

But he was critisizing the quest and story part...

Now you know that's just not true. Even Dragon's Dogma has a more interesting story than Skyrim, and it has the same basic premise of "you're the chosen one that has to go kill this big-ass dragon."

Gameplay isn't really debatable at all. Skyrim's gameplay is just terrible. Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls does better combat in every respect.

Didn't know you can zoom in with bows in dark souls and dragon's dogma in first person mode, i don't think you can do anything in first person mode

Bow play is better in first person mode but that's just my opinion ...
