The game got a 4 on gamespot. A 4...from the fallout franchise. Elder Scrolls and Fallout games always score pretty damn good.
Opinions?
Majority expected it to be trash.
But being hypocrites half the folk calling it shit will probably buy it.
Ouch. Yeah this game has gotten hammered pretty hard in the reviews. I wasn’t planning on picking it up anytime soon myself though because thankfully I have plenty of other great games on my plate these days. It’s a shame that it turned out like it did though because the concept for the game in general seemed quite intriguing to me.

There are tons of games like this.
@uninspiredcup: I meant as a concept for the Fallout universe in particular.
Fallout was originally suppose to have an MMO before Bethesda acquired the property. Would have preferred that, something akin to Guild Wars/PSO with isolated hub, allowing for more of a SP style of COOP avoiding a billion players running around.
@uninspiredcup: Well I thought that Fallout 76 sounded like a very cool idea on paper given how much I enjoyed Fallout 3 and 4 but I think that it’s execution really faltered, largely on the technical side.
@n64dd: Depends on the definition of flop. It scored badly, but some people will love it. It will still sell millions. It wasn't exactly hyped beforehand, and I don't think people expected much from it.
Imo, something like no man's sky, or last guardian are bigger flops.
What is there to be but hurt over? Even if I was it still wouldn't change the fact you are a hypocrite.

Lemmings defense force here jumps at any mention of the Xbox lol. That's internalized butthurt right there. It's funny :)
A game needs hype to be a flop. People hated FO76 before it released. Games like NMS actually had hype behind them before they got bad reviews. Also: A game getting better after years doesn't change the fact it was a flop. FF14 was a flop at launch even if they fixed it and so is NMS.
I'm definitely a bit perplexed by these scores - the game has a lot more content and substance right now than something like Sea of Thieves or No Mans Sky which got not great but at least mediocre reviews.
I guess this is just a case of being lucky (and historically unlucky), but I've experienced relatively few technical issues and bugs with 76 compared with FO4 and Skyrim.
in some ways, I don't think this is a bad thing since it'll force Bethesda to up their game in terms of sloppiness and polish in the future. I kinda feel like this reckoning should have happened with Fallout 4 since that game was just as much of a mess as 76.
I do suspect a lot of people who enjoyed Bethesda's previous games will be depriving themselves of a game they would probably enjoy quite a bit if they gave it a real chance
I just hope this abomination doesn't kill off the Fallout series.
given all the stuff Bethesda announced at E3, I suspect it'll be the last Fallout game we see for a very long time

With these resources they should have let Obsidian make a spin-off instead of FO76.
Starfield and TES6 will probably take up this decade. FO5 won't be a really really long time if ever now.
The best we can hope for is FO76 massive content patches (that should be FREE considering how much people got ripped off) that add in quests/npcs/ actual story-arcs/raids/dungeons/pc-chat and fixes massive bugs. Basically finish the game and take it out of it's current pre-alpha state. Good luck on that...
No one was expecting this to be good, even Bethesda warned that it would be a shitshow. Should be an early access $20 release, or something like that.
I get that it's part of their business model to bank on low investment/high return projects to subsidize other stuff but this will hurt the Fallout brand.
No surprises here.
I wonder if this will damage the Fallout brand and even Bethesda Studios itself? Not a good look.

What was intriguing about it? its using the fallout 4 engine it had no NPC's its got no end game. What was so cool about it?
So how did Star Wars Galaxies became successful ? I remember that game also had some similar ideas like having more players than NPCs and these stuff.
@zappat: I don’t see what why I would be butthurt, I’m enjoying RDR2 and FH4 in 4K and playing online with my friends while you seem to be endlessly bitter about a console you don’t own.
What are you playing at the moment out of interest?
The game is a lot of fun. It's basically a lot like FO4 gameplay-wise, but with an entirely new world to explore. As far as reviews go, I'm just ignoring them. All else I can say is that going by scores, sure, it flopped, but the servers have been packed so far every session I've played (PS4), and I've already put in around twenty hours or so. The reviews may stink, but a whole lot of people are playing.

how are the servers packed this game sales were down 80% from fallout 4 physically

Well the sensitive reactions to anything mentioned about the Xbox tells the contrary. Any mention of the Xbox is like insulting your mother. If you guys didn't feel hurt you guys wouldn't come in hoards to defend anything about the Xbox. That says a lot about how sensitive, insecure about your purchase and butthurt you guys constantly are. And well, it isn't difficult to see why, the PS4 is beating the Xbox in practically every area and has been kicking its ass during the entire gen. While the PS4 Spiderman bundle is breaking records, MS is stuck with a Fallout 76 bundle, that's funny.
@ProtossRushX: I thought that the idea of exploring the wasteland in Fallout 76 with and against other human players was pretty intriguing myself.

But theres no NPC's its just other players with names like Sugardaddy69 its gonna ruin the experience of the game other players in a sandbox doesn't make it intriguing it makes it awful
Probably best flop. It's a pretty good game but it's not Fallout 5 and that seems to be an issue for a lot of people.

When I say packed I mean that every one I jump into has the full amount of people in it. Literally every one. I always check first thing. Over time people leave and the server empties up, but then I jump into another one and it's full again. It happens every time so far. Don't know what to tell you, dude. Going by what I see, it seems a lot of people are definitely playing.
