Post-apocalyptic massively multiplayer online game Fallout Online could be dead before launch after it emerged publisher Interplay is close to financial ruin.

Interplay's astonishing financial situation was revealed by an SEC document reported by Develop.

It warns that Interplay could face bankruptcy and may have to generate funds by selling the company.

Aww, I wanted to suffer in the Wasteland with other people.

Guess I'm stuck with Dogmeat and Fawkes.

Interplay is Interplay in name only. When Titus bought Interplay, all the important people either left or got fired. Just remember that Interplay was merely a publisher to begin with and in 2003 they closed all the internal dev studios along with their office and website. Everybody thought they were dead but because of a loophole the Cain brothers of Titus were able to revive it and sell off Interplay IPs to make ends meet. So in that sense, Interplay has been dead since 2003

They're a shell of their former self, and they drove the Fallout IP into the ground anyway However. Bethesda are absolute pricks when it comes to this intellectual property business. I'd also like to see the shell Interplay's take on the Fallout universe. Bethesda had some decent concepts, but mein gott the Fallout canon and tone was absolutely ruined, as with the series noteworthy writing excellence. Thankfully Obsidian actually did the universe some justice.

That thing was dead in the water before it started.I don't know why anybody would think that Interplay was capable of doing something as complex as a MMO after they pretty much ruined themselves financially years ago.People can blame Bethesda all they want, Interplay's troubles started long before Bethesda bought Fallout.
