Famitsu gives Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii a perfect score 40/40

Japan's biggest gaming publication, the Famitsu, has rewarded another RPG for a Nintendo system with a perfect rating today. After giving Dragon Quest IX 40 out of 40 possible points, all four Famitsu editors testing Monster Hunter 3 (aka Monster Hunter Tri) think it's worth receiving 10s from each reviewer, too.

It's not really surprising. The Monster Hunter brand is huge in Japan. But no game of the series has ever made its way to America or Europe. Capcom will release Tri in these territories, however (in "early 2010″).

Hope it becomes big here as it is in Japan!

1up gave it a A and IGN gave it a 8.5 I believe. So no, they can review Japanese games properly...depends on the reviewer. Doesn't mean the GS reviewer is wrong, just different tastes.

For example, I hate The World Ends With You and think that it's overhyped and the most overrated game of all-time. But that doesn't stop fans from liking it even though I'm right! :P

While I was always going to get this, this just makes me wont it even more now :). Also Nintendogs got AAA here so quit bashing Famitsu over it, when it's GR ranking is also high AA (88% I think). But yeah so far every AAAA game according to Famitsu always gets AAA or AAAA here, so high hopes for Monster Hunter 3 then, same for DQ9 which also got AAAA there.

First of all I never ever trust famitsus opinions. Second of all a MH game do well in japan what a shocker. Im being sarcastic here.

You do know sony still kills with MH on psp right? I mean yea sony missed out on a oppertunity on MH3(mainly cause it was costing the devs to much) but they are still making bank on the MH series.

But it is not a game deserving of a 10. Theres *plenty* of casual games out there that are better and didn't get that score. You need to get off your high horse before telling others to come out of there own little world.

I don't consider japanese review sources when I think about buying games.

The japanese have a different notion of what constitutes as "fun," when compared to the west. I have an a slight distaste for most jrpg's, so I'll wait until some American reviewers look at this game before I take any review seriously.

Fable 2 scored higher at Eurogamer and Gears of War scored higher at GameSpot. One was developed in Europe, the other in North America. One obviously caters to European tastes, the other to North American tastes.
