After the case of Super Mario Galaxy sales in Japan, I have no idea what to expect from them. It seems that retailers might be thinking the same way as well. These retailers have preordered anywhere from 120,000 to 300,000 copies of Wii Fit to prepare for demand. That honestly isn't very much of a supply. On the other hand, retailers have preordered around 600,000 units of Professor Layton II, which they are expecting steady sales from.

If they only ordered the 300,000 maybe a lot of them could have ran out.

It would have almost sold out and it likly many places did the preorder for retailers was from 120,000 to 300,000. So WiiFit did better then what most retailers expected.

How much does Wii Fit cost? I know because of the board it wasn't just a standard $50 (or whatever the conversion in yen is) game. I'm not trying to find an excuse or anything for Nintendo, but with the exception of Guitar Hero III, not too many games with pack-in accessories that drive up the cost of the game really explode on release. Then again, in Japan a game that sells that many copies opening week isn't doing bad at all.

I don't know with GT5 coming out maybe they will move up top.....But then again the Wii has Nights coming out, so it a hard call.

Has for SMG almost 500,000 just in Japan is not really that bad. Still better than SM64 which sold over 10 million copies in the end.

Same here but I can't go anywhere the Weather is bad now, and I hate gyms since I hate being in Public places for along time I just get sick when people are all around me.

Those are good numbers for Wii Fit. It almost completely sold out.

I was expecting it to be number 1, but didn't realize that Layton 2 was being released. That game is huge in Japan. I'm hoping the first one is released here soon if it isn't already.

I'm glad to see SMG back in the top 10. The numbers don't appear to have dipped too low from last week. Looks like it might be a slow burn and it'll eventually hit a million copies sold. Hopefully as more people play it, word of mouth spreads and people realize it's a great game.

The WiiFit costs $80 if you remember. 250,000 is equal to about $20 million in revenue, and that's a lot. It would also be helpful to note that the population of Japan is half of what it is in the US.mdisen

Galaxy is selling faster than both Super Mario 64 did, and Super Mario Sunshine did. Anyone who expected it to sell much faster than it is, is an idiot.
