If you have to combine you are stretching. But it is interesting that the Series is more popular than One by a healthy margin. Color me surprised.

I’m just happy to see Xbox doing better in Japan these days. Hopefully this’ll translate to getting some more support from Japanese devs.

Wow, that’s impressive. Let’s hope Xbox continues to have success. Also, where is Ratchet and Clank? What a flop.

Aren‘t the Series consoles still trailing the Xbox One sales to this point in Japan? What are we celebrating exactly?

As per on last week. The jump spike in Xbox Series X/S is due to all the stock were bought by scalpers and to be sold in Taiwan/Hong Kong/South East Asia as shipping charges for electronics from Japan actually pretty cheap.

@sakaixx: Dude, let it go. It's been sold out every week since launch; there's no extra stock to buy. The spike is because they shipped more to Japan, because retailers purchased more.

@sakaixx: No, you're making excuses because you're afraid of competition. Did Xbox One launch earlier in those regions? Didn't PS5 only launch in Hong Kong last month?

Edit: Got HK mixed up with mainland China and was a month off. Oops.

@techhog89: nope. PS5 shipping or launching wherever is their problem I really can't give a damn. I am specifically talking about xbox. It is much easier to get xbox shipment in japan so scalpers buys them for resale in South East Asia and other regions. In case you dont know, in SEA only Singapore got official Xbox launch shipment and support.

To the TC ... if the thread is about console sales why do you always include the data for games? editing that out would be better

To be fair he is right about SEA, but that seems irrelevant when previous Xbox consoles didn't launch in those countries either. Fact remains that demand saw an increase. It's not impossible that it's only in SEA, but it's unlikely and there's no data to back that idea up.

As said, facts.

In SEA there exist Xbox and nintendo community and they need to get their stocks too. There is no local digital store bar in Singapore so Xbox/Nintendo gamers link their digital xbox/nintendo shop ID to cheaper nations like Brazil or Argentina. I literally worked there in few SEA countries when I was working with Nissan. For example Nintendo stuff SEA retailers either get their stock from middle east or hong kong stock and you will see MDE marking as notice its from Middle East ( for games you will still need to use NA region as 3DS is region locked). Then For xbox usually its from Singapore or Hong Kong but singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan also facing Xbox shortages so many local retailers now imports from Japan.

No bullshit or trolling, just hard cold facts.

@sakaixx: You got caught in your lies. Just give up. Nobody's gonna take you seriously.

If it makes you feel better, the good news is that Switch is starting to heavily decline in Japan, and will fall behind 2020 by the end of summer. Looks like it peaked and will go down from here. It might not outsell PS4 worldwide now, depending on how rapid the decline is. If it's a repeat of Wii's decline and they can't push out the successor before all momentum is gone, they're in trouble.

I have no reason to lie lmao I literally experienced this, I am not even bullshiting you my 3DS literally I bought when I was in Thailand. There is no official Nintendo support in Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia. Where did local retailers get their stocks? From Middle East, specifically UAE. Same with Xbox, retailers import them from somewhere, which is Japan to feed a population of gamers in SEA as well as stock shortages in Singapore/Hong Kong/ Taiwan. Those region also affected too!

You were caught in the lie already, and your reason to lie is that you can't accept non-Sony consoles being successful, so you're trying to fool yourself into believing that PS5 is #1 in Japan, which it could totally be, but you're grasping.

I am simply providing why Xbox sales spiked these past few weeks. What lie? I never said taiwan or hong kong dont have official release only regarding SEA countries. SEA countries dont include Taiwan or Hong Kong, those are in East Asia Techhog learn your geography but regardless those countries facing shortages due to small shipments (or no shipment) and just happens Xbox available in Japan.

You can join those SEA countries facebook gaming communities, they all either got Japan Set or Singapore Set if available. Why I join? Well those community happens to be really good source of buying and trading games (due to limited local availability) and they write in english too. Made me realize I should leave too since I no longer stationed in Thailand.

Same. Good for them.

Another surprise (for ignoranus types like me), number 2 software spot going to a PS4 game.

The sales spiked because Japan is getting more stock. That's all there is to it. It's been selling out in Japan too, which you seem to be in denial about. There's no surplus of Xbox stock in Japan.

Yeah I did and its facts. Those countries facing shortages and xbox stocks available in Japan. Scalper do what they do best, buy those stocks for resale in more profitable region its not rocket science. Give it a try you if you in SEA now the cost of console + shipping charges from japan right now is equivalent for $500-$550. People in SEA do this until very recently when right now both Japan Set and Singapore set somehow getting more expensive due to scalpers getting all the stocks and marking up prices.

Yeah and its due to scalpers buying the stocks for resale in other regions. I am not bullshitting techhog I hope there is someone from South East Asia can verify where they got their xbox and Nintendo stocks its literally either from singapore or Japan. And if they got Japan imported xbox they literally screwed not only pay extra from scalpers but cant claim warranty.

@sakaixx: Your world is just falling apart right now: Xbox is outselling Sony in Japan, Nintendo is getting once-exclusive Sony niche Japanese third party titles. To compensate, you make up ridiculous excuses to cope with it all.

Can't say I blame you, gotta do something to protect your fragile psyche.

(personally I find it hilarious, given how poorly cows have taunted others in the past)

This has a lot to do with supply Sony are struggling to get systems out.

I don't think that excuse holds up in Japan where they are selling at sub Wii U levels.

As per on last week. The jump spike in Xbox Series X/S is due to all the stock were bought by scalpers and to be sold in Taiwan/Hong Kong/South East Asia as shipping charges for electronics from Japan actually pretty cheap.

Also I guess you're now pretending you didn't post this?

Yeah I did and its facts. Those countries facing shortages and xbox stocks available in Japan. Scalper do what they do best, buy those stocks for resale in more profitable region its not rocket science.

Stock isn't available in Japan. It's sold out there too.

Yeah and its due to scalpers buying the stocks for resale in other regions. I'm not saying it's not a factor. I'm saying that it's not the only reason. Xbox One never launched in those regions, but never sold out in Japan, even at launch. Damand is up whether you want to admit it or not.

Also, you added another lie. There's an Xbox branch in SEA now: https://sea.ign.com/xbox-series-xs/170731/news/is-xbox-finally-making-its-big-push-in-southeast-asia

Again, I literally said no lie. Xbox has not officially launched in other SEA regions there is no other local Xbox digital store bar in singapore please go on the net to check this like you usually do. I literally live there for few years until covid strikes I know how hard as foreigner first hand experiences no local eshop or get access to warranty services.

you are trying but really, I have literal experiences and I am not trolling but literally sharing what me and expats experienced. I think if not mistaken @jasonofa36 is from Philiphines (sorry if wrong) and I hope he can help validates. Regarding that link, I have chatted with fellow expats regarding this and it just basically means for now if you buy xbox (from stocks from singapore only) and have issues you sent back to xbox singapore and they will cover shipping fees to singapore. There is still no local stock shipment or local digital store yet. All retailer either get from singapore or other places like Japan, hongkong or taiwan and Japan happens to receive biggest shipments.

Oh edit: Xbox one X is not popular unfortunately in SEA btw. Xbox One in general is not well received in the region, unsurprising really considering the bad press.

@sakaixx: Yeah, I was wrong on the last part.

Either way though, you're clearly just desperate at this point. Thinking about it, I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make here. Here are the facts:

Xbox Series has been selling everything shipped to Japan since launch, meaning that it's supply constrained.

The last 3 weeks have had drastically higher sales than before.

Xbox Series is still sold out.

Therefore, supply has increased drastically, but still isn't meeting demand.

That's it. It's that simple. You can say that Southeast Asia is a big factor in why demand isn't being met, but claiming that those regions caused the spike doesn't make sense to anyone who has spend 5 minutes in an economics class. It was caused by more stock being shipped to Japan. The only way your argument makes any sense is if they stopped shipping stock to Singapore suddenly, but even if that's the case the only reason MS would divert supply like that is if demand in Japan is higher. Take an economics class. It can really help you more ways than just this.

As said, until recently expats and retailers in the region can easily just ship Xbox Series from Japan because its available and shipping fee is cheap for some reasons. But now the price of xbox in local retailers shops suddenly got mark up and now many starting to sell Japan xbox set. No longer able to easily import either.

Its a combination of things really. PS which is hugely popular in the region and is officially launched also supply constrained and some local gamers getting more educated and sees xbox and gamepass values. And we should never forget about HongKong, Taiwan and Singapore either since stock is constrained of course their local retailer all going to target Japan stocks too. Also SEA region have like 400-500m people. Its a big population, I am sure the gaming population is pretty healthy. Covid struck some countries hard too. Malaysia recently got back into lockdown due to high cases so there may be more demand for gaming.

Again, I literally lived there for few years and got expat and local friends. I think I have more valuable first hand knowledge than whatever you'd find on the net.

Also to be frank its better for xbox to send shipment to japan. Their singapore xbox division dont have to deal with warranty claims and the locals will sub Gamepass in argentina or Brazil currency or wherever is cheap so either way xbox not earning much from them.
