Fanboyism is killing me

I just have say it, I try to look at the boards objectively, but f#$kin fanboys are killing me. I admit I am a ardent 360 supporter, and would definitely buy a PS3 but the fanboys are killing my love of gaming on both sides. Personally, the 360 has all the genres and games I love, and the PS3 has a few games I would really like to check out, but the constant putdowns, made up stats and just all around nastiness over freekin video game systems is crazy. I know video games are most a male dominated pastime and we tend to talk a lot of **** but the fanboyism crazy but hey it's the internet I choose to visit the boards-although today is my last day-when I don't have too. Game on brothers. XBox Livers see u online. PSN users will see u in the near future. I just refuse to let the boards kill my love of gaming, stop from supporting the 360 or the Playstation 3. Just remember competition breeds innovation for all companies and if one goes away the others will suffer from complacency-sp.

But you gotta realize who these stubborn "fanboys" are -- either kids with parents who don't closely monitor their behavior online, or adults who didn't get spanked as a child.

You can't reason with them, so just ignore them. They always have to be right -- no matter what. So let them be right! (In their own little world, of course.)

i know what you mean. i remember when i was a kid, you had to have every game system that was out. yeah nintendo and sega had beef about which one was better, but at the end of the day, it was a tie. i look at the ps3 and the 360 the same way. i have them both....and the wii and to me, the ps3 and the 360 comes out to be a tie. there is no better system. one might have better games that you like to play and the other system might have better games for the next person, but at the end of the day, they are all the ame system.

As in I would defend the 360 but I wont go saying 360 games are "1000x better than PS3 games" and so on...

Recognition's the first step in addressing the problem. I tend to defend the Wii and the DS quite a bit in here, but it's because I think they both get a bad rap from the fanboys. Honestly, the thing that's kept me from actually buying a 360 up to this point has been the quality of the hardware. There're some games I'd really like to play for it, but I don't care if there's a 3-year warranty or not, I don't want to be bothered with a console dying on me, let alone having to ship a dead out. In fact, I may even buy a PS3 by the end of the year and just pass up the 360 altogether.

The reason I'm bringing this stuff up is that it's good to have choice, and it's good that the console market has alot of choice in it right now, because the competition is where the innovation comes from. Fanboys don't seem to realize that, and instead give their loyalty to a corporation (take your pick which one, they're ultimately the same) that really only cares about making money.

Thats what I do, I haven't posted much but my comments have already been taken out of context here. Fanboys are like commericals, ignore them and they will go away. Don't let the minority ruin gaming for you, you will never meet these people so why let it bother you?

But yes, fanboyism is horrible on system wars. but than again, what do you expect? There's only three ways to deal with it:
1. Ignore it
2. Make them look like idiots (it's rather easy)
3. Report them. More often than not, their violeting the ToS.
