[QUOTE="horrowhip"][QUOTE="sexy_chimp"] So the 360 and PS3 versions will be EXACTLY like the PC version, with maybe just a small graphical downgrade?
That's pretty impressive and now I want it.

where did he say this? I sure didn't see it or hear it.
He has said several times that the consoles won't match a high end PC because it isn't possible. All the content will be the same but the consoles will be a step down graphically at around the medium level.
Good thing I'm not a graphics whore then. Even at medium settings Far Cry probably destroys anything else on consoles (That's counting the size of the game, physics, AI, and interactivity)
yeah, they said they are setting a new standard for console graphics so there isn't anything to complain about but at the same time, you can't pretend that the consoles can compete with an 8800 or a 9800. Those GPU's are absolute beasts and currently the only game that even pushes them is Crysis which has basically every single graphic intensive effect jam packed into every scene. Real-time lighting, god-rays, extremely high res textures(the textures on Very High absolutely destroy the textures in EVERY other game. It is obvious if you look closely at anything), motion blur, depth of field, and other lighting effects like Ambient Occlussion and the REAL kicker Parallax Occlussion Mapping. Parallax Mapping is the next level of texture detail. A texture(which is 2D) can cast 3D shadows with Parallax Occlussion mapping. If you think that doesn't require some crazy shader work than you are insane. Combine that with destructible objects everywhere, physics on everything, VERY good AI(yes... it glitches but 90% of the time those "glitch" videos are in the sandbox editor or when they have cheated to glitch out the game by spawning at the end of a level so that the AI you see at first haven't loaded their AI patterns yet... Anyone who has used the editor knows that the game loads AI LAST. Infact, it is normally loading the AI sequentially along the path you are supposed to take and it takes quite a bit of time for it to load everything.)
Crysis has a good reason for being as demanding as it is.
