I think so far the only people in this thread who didn't like Fallout 3 or haven't even consider it were never a big fan of Oblivion. With that said, Fallout 3 is definitely a different gaming especially with the character development, and combat. But it still has that open-ended world much like Oblivion. I would say, if you didn't enjoy Oblivion you still have a 50% chance of liking Fallout 3. Then again "a lot" people like Oblivion versus the opposite opinion.
Far Cry 2 improves on something you enjoyed from the original. At the sametime there is some inconsistency with the game. Still the multiplayer component is fairly solid, and is enjoyable. Making a full circle back, I can safetly say that to a degree it is what you expect from the Far Cry franchise, and any fan of shooters should give it a chance.
In the end, I think Fallout 3 is just one of the games that you absolutely have to play this year as oppose to Far Cry 2.
