I wouldn't really call Borderlands open world. The environment might be totally open but you wont survive traversing all of it unless you're sufficiently leveled. And you don't really stand to benefit from traveling where ever unless your quest has you go there. There really isn't a whole lot to do aside from shoot some dudes or shoot some dude and then get some things. I'm not crazy for either game but I like Bordland's style and it has co-op, so theres that. I bassically have to get it, I have lots of friends who will and Borderlands 2 does look good I'm not really interested in Far Cry. Oh, and I do want to play Halo 4 more than like all those games put together.

I'll go by what I see instead of what they try to feed us. If it's an open world game then show some open world parts instead of showing first person Uncharted.
Is it wrong for me to have not liked the first Borderlands?

The first one was only "ok" to me. It pretty much boiled down to shoot this thing collect loot and drive some places. I liked the art style but the game does get repetitive after awhile.
Far Cry 3 looks like it will be a huge leap over FC2 in terms of quality. Borderlands already has that quality. I will probably enjoy FC3 more just because it will probably be more action oriented. But both will be good.
Anyway, Borderlands 2. From the Zero footage alone, I know this will be a great game me and my mates will play the hell out of. I never liked Borderlands 1, but the new one looks too fun in co-op.
Far Cry 3 for me, mainly because it comes out first and we're going to be coming out of a serious game release dry spell in September. Still, pickings are slim the rest of the year, I might just end up getting both eventually.
I just hope Ubisoft got their act together after the disaster that was FC2.
The story looks promising though.

I loved fc2, but anyway, let me tell you Missions are now more stoyfocused, you can approach from wherever you want but once you reach the objective they are linear with cutscenes, guns are more powerfull but have alot of recoil, there are over 30 weapons in th game, more than 10 animals along with sharks. There is less traveling and more quicktravel, there are multiple islands, it focuses on telling a story, there is stealth and leveling up no jamming or malaria, no respawning enemies. If they dont turn it too linear and scripted, it will be awesome.
Considering I enjoyed FC2 to the tune of 8.5-9.0 and enjoyed Borderlands to the tune of 5.5-6.0, I think it might be obvious which game I would prefer to play. Grinding for loot is not my thing. Especially if there is no motivation besides the loot itself to play the game.
