Thanks Ubishit!
Possibly some NVIDIA related dispute or a way to increase the frame rate? Because if it's the latter, I haven't seen any reports of improvement.
30 fps is not glorious enough for the godly rays of Nvidia. The PS4 never had God Rays or Volumetric Fog anyway, it had lower quality lighting than the PC version to begin with, now it's even lower.
Also, your title says 1.04 but the video is showing 1.02.
The god rays on PS4 are NOT the same god-rays on PC. On PC they are volumetric and tessellated. They actually are fully dynamic and light the scene properly and realistically. They are pretty awesome.
They are also NONE of those thing son PS4. The PS4 version is the standard "flare" effect when looking directly at the sun through geometry like trees. So this has nothing to do with Nvidia.
It's either a bug, or the poor crappy PS4 just can't handle even last gen god-rays :p
NO GOD RAYS? I was considering purchasing this on christmas, but this put the final nail in the coffin. I'm done Ubisoft, you went too far.
Seriously though, what the frack is up with Ubi? Every single game that they've released has been a downgrade. You'd think a dev would release patches to actually make the game better, instead they just continually take away features.
They didn't even mention it in the patch updates, it's almost as if they didn't think people would notice (or that people would just run with it if they did).
The console don't have godrays. If you google "Far Cry 4 god rays ps4", you get that video has the first result.
lol tc
Is it true that you see the face of God when you look in the rays?
I sneeze every time I try to look. The real thing, I mean. ;)
Is it true that you see the face of God when you look in the rays?
On consoles you see the face of YAHWEH. On PC you see the face of Cthulhu, the TRUE god.
But i saw GabeN while playing the PC version. He said to buy more hats in TF2 and cases in CS GO
not the god rays! now they only need to take 1/3 of the resolution and it will look like the xbone version.

Yeah, I wouldn't even really consider these god rays. It's a minor effect that only occurs when looking directly at the sun. Hardly comparable to the PC version's god rays, which I would point out also runs great on AMD hardware. I am honestly surprised they couldn't even get the volumetric fog type god rays running on the next gen consoles as it barely dents my framerate whatsoever.
Was not a fan of the god rays on the pc version, but it should at least be an option if there was a minimal performance hit.
He talks about the same issue in this video... I did find the video interesting, but his PC version for some reason runs like crap. FC4 for me runs really good, and sticks to 74 fps on ultra.
Its nothing to do with Nvidia. The god rays on the console version are the same as godrays on the PC version when not using the NVidia setting. You can hardly see them anyway so PS4 is not loosing much. Nvidia god rays are very noticeable, too pronounced. Though they do look really good in some indoor areas.
This is why I am always cautious of game patches these days. They end up breaking more things then actually fixing them.
Hopefully the performance is a bit better now. There are many more console games that can't even maintain 30 fps that could be "optimized" in this way. When a game runs at 60 fps some minor dips is hardly noticeable but If the devs can't get the frame rate stable at 30 fps they should cut the things that bogs down the performance, whether it's physics or graphics, not the AI of course. Or something like Wolfenstein The New Order, which is using an alternating resolution to keep the frame rate more stable.
I heard the pc version is a stutterfest when textures are set above medium, regardless of specs.
Not mine. I use Ultra, SSBC, SMAA. God rays are off though.
@mikhail: Do you love to randomly make shit up? The Console version had god rays and the only thing it lacked as the standard Nvidia exclusive BS. This further shows that developers are purposely gimping console versions for Nvidias bullshit.
Lens flare is not the same thing as God Rays. Quiet down, peasant.

interesting video
PS4 can't handle.
Sounds more like some legal issue. Maybe nvidia helped with the sun rays and threatened to sue.
Eurogamer was quite pleased with ps4's performance. They said 50 ms stutter is commonplace on pc no matter the gpu. They also said after the inconsistency of the pc experience running a locked framerate on console was a breath of fresh air.
More alt accounts I see don't know what's the point since your not really accomplishing anything here.

I corrected him on ps4's performance. What exactly are you accomplishing here?
Your telling me you made a account to correct him when he never mention anything about the framerate
