I am potentially picking up one sometime in the near future, and I am just curious as to which GTA is your favorite, and if you so desire, why.
NOTE: I couldn't care less for multiplayer, I'm mainly in it for the story.

Vice City. That game was awesome.
San Andreas was great from a gameplay standpoint, but it had nothing on Vice City in terms of writing and style.
I still play the first trilogy to this day. I loved them all. My favorite: GTA 3. Everytime I play it it takes me back to when I first was able to explore the entire city and do what I wanted. And it still has the best radio skits. (Not the music, that's Vice City)
As for the story, I liked GTA 4 and the episodes the most. They are the most solidly written of them all.
vice city but i love them all.
vc was just so cool for representing miami in 1986. it really was the most dangerous city in the world at that time.
there is a great documentary on netflix called cocaine cowboys if you want to see the reality of 1980's miami. people were getting gunned down in the streets with automatic weapons. crazy stuff.
I'm sorry. The first time I tried the system glitched and said to try again, so I did. Guess it ended up posting two threads. You didn't need to make another thread ya'know...
UnrealLegend
San Andreas by a few hundred miles. I haven't played China Town Wars or GTA3. I really liked how alive the city was in GTA4, but I didn't like how the game played out, jumping from different groups of characters (mission hubs) so quickly, nor did I like Niko. For someone that talks about loyalty so much, he seems to turn on former allies quite easily. The characters in SA were so much more enjoyable, & I liked how large & diverse the map was, though I'd love to see a game similar to SA in theme but in a GTA4-like map.
Also SA had a lot more character customization, I'm amazed they removed it.
I like IV the most. I like that they added in some seriousness. I don't like the stupidity of the PS2 games.
Vice City for the story and atmosphere. San Andreas for the world and content. III was a good all-around game and IV, to me, was just a joke. I hated it.
San Andreas easy.
Vice City was the first one I played, and it was awesome, actually might be my favorite. But just the amount of things to do with San Andreas, plus the improved gameplay (climbing, swimming, shooting etc.) made it better for me. If all of that was in Vice City, and the map was as big as San Andreas I'd say that.
GTA IV is really really close to being my favorite...Only including the Episodes from Liberty City, without those the game was great, but even GTA III (for its time) was better, or just equaled it. The one thing, however, Rockstar needs to do with DLC next time, is implement the new weapons, vehicles and features in with the original game as well.
GTA III was awesome for its time, but its hard to pick as a favorite if you started with Vice City or SA or IV.
Of course, the multiplayer in IV was a blast with friends, but the setup was horrible.
Vice City and Vice City Stories (mainly for the Music, Atmosphere, and setting)
If they make another game in Vice City I would buy it instantly as long as it is in the 80s.
It would be cool if they had Liberty City in 1978.
[QUOTE="DudeNtheRoom"]I could never really get into GTA. I always thought the graphics looked.....N64ish. Then GTA 4 came around and the graphics actually fit with the game. mattuk69N64ish? What in the blue hell.... The original GTA game had really bad graphics. I didn't see a big jump when Vice and Andreas. I might be being a bit harsh but so were the graphics.
