MGS3
MGS1 is very memorable, and was a great game for its time. But Snake Eater is many times better.
You should seperate MGS and the twins snakes.
The original MGS is my favorite.
DarkCloud79
i know but there isnt enough space on these polls so thats why i put or in between them.
The original no doubt about it.
Lack of Radar really killed MGS3 for me. And MGS2 was great, even if Raiden is considered a joke amongst fans.
i'm torn between 2 and 3. i didnt like the whole raiden thing with 2 (i think raiden turn off alot of people), but i liked the story. the metal gear fight in 2 was the hardest fight out of any of the pervoius metal gear games.
3 on the other hand, got you up to speed with the metal gear story has a whole. i would have never known the big boss was a female.
METAL GEAR SOLID 1. The reason Its my favorite is because it got 2 categories right. Which is the story itself and it explained the background of bosses you faced.
MGS2 was good, but the main story got really confusing and weird in the end with the whole robot and skeleton faces. At first I thought I knew the purpose of MGS2 story, but in the end it went down the toilet and kind of ruined the game for me. The bosses were well done in MGS2 and each had a background. So you knew your boss.
MGS3 story was just amazing, but it messed up in the boss department(not counting the boss, ocelot and the last guy). There was no real background to bosses. Example the pain. Why did he join this group? Why does he have bees all over him? Was this somehow connected to his past? You may be thinking "man this guy is nit picky its just a dam boss",but after getting use to MGS staple of having backgrounds to my bosses I expect it.
These are just my thoughts that's all.
Metal Gear Solid PS1. I've been playing it again and it has aged amazingly well. That game is a classic.
remblade
Plus its the only one of the Solid series to have multiple endings.

Yea it was hell to survive that torture chamber. I wasn't use to pressing buttons fast at the time. So I got a huge blister on my thumb, but it was worth the pain.

I was replaying it this weekend and it still hurt my fingers haha. Saving Meryl really takes effort. I love it.
I have a question! Did anyone here shead some tears in any of the MGS games? I did a little in MGS1 and in the ending of MGS3 i was really tearing because how messed up it was.finalfantasy94
I didn't tear up but I was grealty moved at the end of MGS3.
Definetly the most emotiona video gamel moment since that infamous scene in FFVII.
I found the third to worse of the three main entries. I start MGS with Twin Snakes, so that or the original. PSX version.ArisShadows
Healing snake. Feeding Snake. Come on now. Is this MGS or The Sims? Not to mention I'd spend minutes surveying an area and then get caught cause of one mistep around a corner. No Radar = no fun.

Not to say it wasn't a good game, but alot of the extra gameplay just made the fun factor drop and quite irratation. I dont want to actively swap camo on the go, I want just sneak and yada yada.

And they didn't fix the stupid FP camera until Substinence. So you couldn't move while in first person view mode. So you had to constantly change to this POV, move, POV, move, POV, move..CAUGHT. WTF!
It turned MGS into a guessing game. I just gave up and ran past enemies. Their was no point in having a strategy when it would all be ruined due to things out of your control like a camera that doesn't let you see much at all. and a POV system that doesn't let you move at the same time.

ya i didnt wanna do it so i waited for a while hoping for a different ending, lol
MGS 2: The Sons of Liberty is my all time favorite.Lo_RisingI agree. MGS3 has the best game play but MGS 2 has the best plot out of the MG's and MGS titles.
I love the little things Kojima does though like Psycho Mantis reading your mind through the controller and having to change it, Fission Mailed in MGS2. Hes just like a film director.
Ill have to say MGS 3 though, The End and The Boss were incredible boss fights, The charactors of Naked Snake, The Boss , Volgin and Ocelot as well as supporting roles were great. The gameplay mechanic of camo, hunting and healing were great. The chase sequences, the music, when Volgin gives you information on his plan and info on the philosphers legacy and you see the sorrow in the back with the timer counting down, the incredible ending, the relationships between naked snake and the boss. The rivalry or ocelot and naked snake and seeing the great ocelot young, arrogent and prone to stupid mistakes. Great stuff.
