I'll decide when I find out why Kingdom Hearts and Valkyria Chronicles aren't JRPGs. I don't want to pick the wrong one.SW_modifiedBecause Valkyria Chronicles is best fit into the TRPG category on account of the tactical flow of moving troops and setting up your attack/defense strategies.

I choose JRPGs then. The FF kind.
Does the "/thread" thing ever work? Just wondering, since its annoying and not smiled upon here. It's not like it makes your opinion true for everyone, nor does it change anyones mind.JRPG > All

There is a sticky telling you how not to get moderations.. and it mentions to not use /thread as its disruptive.. might be good to know in the future.[QUOTE="SerpentX541"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] Does the "/thread" thing ever work? Hence why I was telling him about it in a more roundabout way, but he chose to be a jerk about it...[QUOTE="SerpentX541"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] Does the "/thread" thing ever work? Might I suggest reading the sticky with the rules *before* posting anymore, so you do not get suspended or banned. They are there to help you, and you will be moderated for breaking them. Just warning you now, the GS mods enforce them rules.Thats the most ridiculous thing i ever heard...how can that be disruptive?

Also, not for nothing, TC you left of Western RPGs like Mass Effect or Fable. Vastly different, and some people love them.SpruceCabooseoops
Favorite rpg type? Pen and Paper RPGs of course, nothing comes close :)
From videogame...wRPGs.. classic old school ones, with large worlds, lots of choices and consequences, deep roleplaying mechanics etc.. ie stuff like Fallout or Darklands, not Diablo clones

I'll decide when I find out why Kingdom Hearts and Valkyria Chronicles aren't JRPGs. I don't want to pick the wrong one.SW_modifiedKH is an ARPG because it combines traditional beat 'em up gameplay elements with a prevalent levelling and customization system. Valkyria Chronicles is an SRPG primarily because of the grid-based movement system, but the turn-based system and number of characters per battle are also important (exploration is also not a prevalent factor).
ARPG (action rpg)- Kingdom Hearts and most likely FFversusXIII
JRPG- FF, Suikoden, Tales series, BoF series, all the SNES RPGs, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, etc.
SRPG or Tactical- Hmmm... Vandal Hearts
MMO RPGS- I used to like Ragnarok but meh... I MIGHT go for FFXIV though
WRPG- Not fond of WRPGs
Mine are... ARPG: Crisis Core (although this is blurred between ARPG and JRPG) JRPG: Star Ocean 2 SRPG: I hate these; maybe Valkyria but I need to play more than the demo MMO: I really hate these (but looking forward to single player quality storyline in SWTOR and possibly FFXIV) WRPG: OblivionARPG (action rpg)- Kingdom Hearts and most likely FFversusXIII

I don't have a favorite. Any RPG that can provide a good story and decent gameplay is fine for me. On a side note XenoGears and PlaneScape torment are the perfect examples of what I enjoy in a RPG game.

It only works when your post is good enough for somebody else to respond with "/thread".
My most prefered rpgs are listed in this order.
1. Western RPG: Not only is this my favorite type of rpg, it is also my favorite genre in games.
2. Action RPG: I always enjoy killing dozens of monsters in games like Diablo.
3. Japanese RPG: I have recently gained a little interest in JRPG's, but i'm not into them... yet.
4. MMORPG: Sometimes they can be funny, but they are often the same, grinding gets boring quickly, and the monthly fees which most MMORPG's have are annoying.
5. Strategy RPG: I have only played Fire Emblem, and i don't have any interest in the genre.
