Favorite Stealth Series?

The title is pretty self explanatory. Which stealth series is your favorite? Or game from the series or just a stealth based game without a series but just one game that was pretty good.

I'm on the edge of either the Thief series or the Hitman series. Their both quite good IMO, Theif offers a much more easier stealth expierence, ex: you can leave bodies just piled up in one room with one guy still their and after a while he'll give up*...what the front door? I still like it even if it is somewhat easy, I mean as easy as it may be I just love a sucessful steal and leaving my mission with only a mountain of bodies and a mark that shows everyone that Garret was here. Hitman on the other hand offers a much more realistic and somewhat difficult stealth expierence, ex: the AI is somewhat smarter than that found in the Thief series and you are given not much in terms of health so going in guns a blazing isn't really a good idea.

Each one offers a different expierence and I really don't know which one is better...if I had to go with one it might be Thief, to tell you the truth. Both have a feeling of satisfaction after a successful mission but Thief feels even more satisfactory because of the fact that not only did I just kill everyone in the castle I also took every single trinket and treasure in the place. That to me just feels so much more rewarding then just being hired to kill one person like in the Hitman series. Still they both offer up great stealth expirences, Thief feels fun and rewarding while Hitman feels the same way but also a little more challenging and realistic, which I admire but still, props to Garret. :)

So how about you people of SW. Favorite stealth game/series?

*: Yeah I know Hitman also does this as well but it seems much more prominnent in the Thief series, tbh.

Only stealth game I truly enjoy and would buy again if a new game was made is Deus Ex:HR. I'm not into stealth games, but that one is my favorite which probably means I'll be one of the only people to say that.

Hitman. Blood Money was awesome and it looks like they're improving everything for the the fifth.

Metal Gear Solid, rthough I was only a fan of 2 and 4.

No One Lives Forever... the stealth is so good, that you don't even need it.

Metal Gear Solid. Though, I wasn't a fan of MGS4.

for me, MGS, Thief and Hitman. amazing games. the Octocamo in MGS is the epitome of all stealth gadgets.

Splinter cell then hitman and metal gear

Splintercell. Isnt it obvious? Also Hitmanas well. Lets pretend Conviction doesnt exist & we can still call SC a stealth series.

Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Thief, with Hitman a close second. After how well Deus Ex: Human Revolution turned out I have high hopes for Thief 4 (as long as it doesn't keep its current working title of Thi4f ;)).

Quite a few.

Maybe even the sneaking parts in Shadow of Rome.They weren't that great though,but I liked running through Rome.

I hate this question because I have 3 ways to answer it.

Best series is MGS hands down, but thats because of story, not stealth. The stealth is mearly OK.

My favorite stealth in a game is in Human Revolution. It was very intense!

The best stealth in a series is Splinter Cell.

Metal Gear Solid. Even great stealth series like Hitman and Splinter Cell are nowhere near the awesomeness of the MGS series.

Thief. Thief is still the only game to do stealth so perfectly. And of course the amazing writing only helps make it even better. After Human Revolution I too am excited for Thief 4.

metal gear solid should be the only answer. although mgs4 had a bit too much action for my taste.

as far as the series

mgs3>mgs1>mgs2>mgs4 all are AAA games for me though, mgs3 is a 10 in my book.

Funny, I was thinking that Thief is a perfectly legitimate answer. What didn't you like about that series?

Metal Gear Solid series, Hitman series, Splinter Cell series, Amnesia Dark Descent i always sneak around in this game freaked out.

Don't kid yourself MGS fans, it's Thief. No other game uses the engine's light and sound like that.

Favorite single player stealth = MGS2 >>>>>>>> MGS3 >>> Chaos Theory.

Favorite multiplayer stealth = Chaos Theory >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everything.

THief of course. The only thing that comes close is DarkMod and that's bassically Doom3 turned Thief :)

Multiplayer though: Thievery UT...another mod :)

You may not think it's stealth but it has better stealth gameplay than pretty much any other game I've played because it's me actually choosing to use stealth as and when I see fit and it works brilliantly within the game.
