Chances are you had a hard time thinking of one because 99% of games have always been about killing and hurting people, ha no wonder the media always uses the games industry as scape-goat towards violence in kids. Well there are racing games but name any other genre and I am certain that it revolves killing other characters on screen. I don't get why we don't have games which are truly innovative in that respect, don't get me wrong there are definitely unique titles like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus but even those games you have to kill as you progress.

I really feel we need a genre that does not involve killing, I just find it quite sad that we have all these awesome games but the reason we enjoy them 80% of the time is because we are killing/hurting other players. There are Movies and music which don't revolve around violence but games seem to do so majority of the time, even if its a casual game like LBP or Mario. You are still hurting characters. What do you think of this SW?

Games that involve killing and violence should be banned or forced to be rated M. Anyway, most of my games that I buy don't involve violence. Games like LBP, Mario, and others continue to rule.

As long as it's a good game I really don't care that much about the premise. The only problem is that it's very difficult to have a video game that isn't a racing, puzzle, or simulation game without involving violence. The only game that's actually made any impact without involving violence is the Sims.

That's bad cause then games like NHL 10 would be rated M since it's got 1st person fist-fighting. Also, in Mario and Zelda, you kill monsters so your saying that should also be rated M??

Yeah Tetris but proper game? I dunno, I mean it's a game but Im talking about proper console games not things you can play on the go. Apart from racing all games show violence, yes even LBP shows hurting people is ok. Its crrazy, we need pure non violence proper games.

Almost all games and genres are based on some form of elinimation, whether it is violent or not. The games containing guns just happens to be the fastest and possibly most preferred way of elimination.

The only kind of games I can think of that don't evolve elimination are sports, racing, and puzzles (correct me if I'm wrong/missing something else). I guess Animal Crossing or Tetris would be my favorite non-violent game.

I really could not agree less with your sentiments, but that's an interesting qualification. I was about to say Burnout 3, but if you remember that all the cars presumably have drivers in them, it's one of the most violent games ever. SSX Tricky is my second-favorite racing game, but you're encouraged to push other snowboarders over, so I guess that's out. Animal Crossing seems all right, but you can hit people with the bug net to make them mad. And step on roaches in your house. So I guess Rock Band is my answer. I would probably say some adventure game instead, but I can't remember which ones don't involve violence of some sort.

Yout triggered a memory of Oregon Trail. I don't think that had any violence either, although you could die of dystentary.

Well, there were many of the old-time pure adventure games from the PC era like Monkey Island (this is a good one--there was violence to an extent, but entirely nonlethal and usually slapstick in nature).

And if you don't mind limiting one's violence to caricatures, there's always the Lego games. No blood or guts, just bricks.

Katamari Damacy. Although, no games involve killing/hurting people. The most I've ever done to someone through a videogame is make them ragequit. My death animation count is pretty big, but as it turns out, that doesn't affect anyone besides the people that have to wait through the respawn timers.

You mean those gigantic boiling masses of plasma in a vaccum? So you're asking if I'd like to be crushed under a large pile of rubbish and then hurled into the fiery core of a sun?

Awe someone beat me to it :(. Most of nintendos main games have violence in there. Mario, Zelda, Mertoid and even Animal Crossing. Yea I said animal crossing. I can beat people to the point where they leave my town or I can plant pitfall seeds and trap them. All violent acts.

EDIT: Hell even LBP has violence in them. You can slap each other and drag youself accross the screens.

Are you a pacifist? violence is as normal as the sun going down. You take everything away from a person and go back to the bare essentials we are at the core a violent race. humans are made to eat sleep crap reproudce and combat. Everything would be weird if there was nuthing but peace. other then that. yea good point it just shows how animalistic we are.

Well, yeah, but if we're counting the acquizition of food as violence, then I think something's wrong. Even fishing would be taboo.
