What is your favourite gaming genre and why? What makes it your favourite?

Probably Adventure and/ or RPG. I love exploration and both genres usually do pretty well in that area. Also, Zelda is my favorite series of all time, so it makes sense that Adventure would be one of my favprites.
I think Zelda is an action/adventure. Adventure games are like Myst or the new Gemini-rue. It's a terrible terminology that confuses me every time :(.Probably Adventure and/ or RPG. Classic adventure games,I enjoy sitting back listening to the long conversations and the plot development, the humour is often really good in adventure games,I love complex problem solving and many adventure games(well, most)feature all sorts of riddles and enigmas that I don´t mind to spending hours trying to solve them.
Strategy games come a close second, followed by sim racing(actual sim racing, not GT or Forza).
Fighting Genre.
I find nothing more satisfying in gaming than being able to jump into a game immediately -- choose from a varied selection of characters and jump right into kicking somebody's ass(or vice versa :P).
Plus the super flashy stylize attacks and the depth they usually offer almost always keeps me coming back for more. = )
1.Racing e.g Colin Mcrae, Gran Turismo, Burnout.
2.Scrolling Shooter e.g Raiden series
3.Combat Flight e.g Ace Combat
4.Rail Shooter e.g Time Crisis series
1. shmups - lots of replayability from the additional/unlockable content and the consistently competitive international leaderboards (people still competing for rankings even a couple years after the game is released). Very challenging since some games in the genre take twitch gameplay to the extreme. I love how you need precise yet fast reaction time in addition to predicting the best tactical options/positioning. very addicting genre and very hard for me to put a game down/feel content with my best runs.
2. action/beat-em-up/hack-n-slash genre i.e. devil may cry/bayonetta - very large learning curves from quick weapon s witching to different forms of quick s tyle switching in addition to advanced gameplay mechanics. An example of this would be the wicked weaving mechanic found in bayonetta (mid combo string holding down a button while hitting dodge and then continuing that combo string for the end chain finisher - allowing you to string combo chains upon combo chains) and jump cancelling in devil may cry (for endless aerial combos).
point and click adventures are growing on me as of lately and I've really been enjoying story/puzzle based point and click games (like the dream machine, gemini rue, dinner date, the whispered world).

I've played/enjoyed the neverhood and I've always considered day of the tentacle (dunno if that's considered a point + click) but it wasn't until recently then I've gone on a point and click gaming spree. definitely send me some (preferably PM) as I'm interested in your recommendations and would greatly appreciate that.[QUOTE="Arach666"]

Sure,I´ll PM you some in a bit.I didn't think i had one particular favorite genre, i mostly enjoy JRPGs, Hack and slash, Adventure, RTS, however, with the inclusion of online in figthing games, i've been having a blast with this genre this gen, i love the competitive sice of this genre, mastering your favorite characters, etc, etc.
So i'll say that for the moment, its Figthing.
Action/adventure are my favourite games. Mainly because I don't paticularly like really long games, 7-15 hours usually does me. FPS are next, then platformers and then racing.
Don't really know. I can say my least favorites are sports and RTS. ANd I like fighting games although I probably wouldn't put it up thre as one of my favorite genres.
