why is everyone obsessed with sonic all of a sudden? the only correct answer is sonic 1-2 on genesis
Sonic 1+2 back on the Genesis/megadrive for me, infact i still get a tear in my eye everytime i hear that 'Seeeegaaaaa' jingle.
the music is awesome in sonic 2. interesting tidbit that i heard: the 'sega' sound took up more memory than all the rest of the game combined
Hmmm... i know posted mario and sonic but that was more of lawlz thing. Lets see... Sonic, sonic 2, sonic 3, sonic and knuckles, Sonic adventure where the ones i last played so errr.... sonic and knuckles.
Honestly..... Did i jump out the sonic love boat at the right time before it sank?
Sonic 1-3, Rush, and the 2D portions of Generations were all solid to great.
Sonic has NEVER been any good in the 3rd dimension. Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast was the first of many major missteps the blue hedgehog has taken.
Sonic 2 for me. I was playing it last night on my Gamecube. It's still a wonderful game after all these years. Other Sonic games from the Genesis era are great, too, but there's something special about the second one.
Sonic 1. Even though I appreciate the improved mechanics in 2 and 3 + knuckles and the addition of Tails, 2 and 3 are just too easy IMO, at least until near the ends. Sonic 1, while not brutally hard by any means, just has a different level of challenge compared to the other 2 that makes it more rewarding.
Not only my favorite Sonic game, but my favorite platformer of all time - Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It's bigger and badder than the rest.
1 Sonic CD - My favorite game of all time.
2 Sonic 2 - The best Genesis Sonic game.
3 Sonic Adventure -The last jaw dropping next gen moment I have experienced in gaming
4 Sonic R - Once you learn the handling and the terrible/amazing music grows on you its a great game.
1. Sonic 3 + Knuckles
2. Sonic 2
Distant
Distant
Distant
3. The original Sonic. Honestly have no idea why people like this game, Sonic 2 was the first one that I found remotely enjoyable.
Beyond that I've only dabbled in the other games and the only one I found somewhat ok was Generations, but I only played it for about an hour.
Looking for Sonic games to play for such cheap price? Go to this: https://www.humblebundle.com/ Amazing deal for 3 great sonic games along with other games (Sonic Generations, Sonic & All-Star Transformed and Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut!!!) #MASTERRACE
My favorite is Sonic Adventure DX btw.
@ConanTheStoner: Completely agree about Sonic 1. What a boring game.
Ever try Sonic 2 + Knuckles? I had a lot of fun with that.
@wolverine4262:
Oh yeah man, I ran the full gamut with those games. Thought it was pretty awesome.
And yeah, Sonic 1 was a drag. Everything past stage 2 was just meh to me. Whereas with Sonic 2 things started out good and only got better as the game went on.
****, I might actually get down on some classic Sonic games tonight, it's been a while.
Sonic 1 and 2 are the only good ones(haven't finished CD yet). Sonic 3 sucks. The level design is terrible in that on--different people behind the game I bet.
@ConanTheStoner: It was weird for me because Sonic 2 was my first one. So, when i tried Sonic 1, I thought it was broken or something.
I loved playing as Knuckles in Sonic 2. Sonic & Knuckles was a really pretty game too for the time.
I still got the collection for 360 and I think I got it for steam now too.
With all this Sonic talk lately, I've been going back to a lot of the sonic games I own. I actually think Sonic Rush might be the strongest game in the franchise. It has stronger level design than the originals on Genesis (they are still good, but there are a lot of very questionable choices in some of those levels) and its mechanics are tailor made for the #1 purpose of the Sonic franchise: speed runs. Most notably of these mechanics is perhaps the air dash which allows you to cut your vertical trajectory short to shave down those milliseconds.
Just for a reference, the Sonic games I went back to were
-Sonic the Hedgehog (great, but flawed)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (great)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 3 + Knuckles (great, but flawed)
-Sonic Adventure DX (just terrible)
-Sonic Rush (excellent. Sonic realized to its fullest potential yet)
-Sonic Generations (great, but flawed)
Sonic Spinball!!!! (just kidding, but only a little).
Sonic 1 and 2 were both really good. 2 is probably my favorite. Sonic+Knuckles was awesome as well.
hah, I forgot all about Sonic Spinball, I had a blast with that game but I am a long time fan of real & VG pinball.
Sonic All Star Racing Transformed. His platformers? never cared for what he did post dreamcast (haven't touched Colors or Generation), and played his Genesis stuff and found most of it to be average, if not out right lousy (Sonic 1), but that fucking kart racer? Good mechanics, less bullshit weapons, fun tracks. Makes sense given that team did amazing stuff with Fzero and made a better Fzero than any of Nintendo's teams ever made. So yeah Sonic wise I'll play him when he's in a kart racer.
Sonic 2 for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive:Spin Dash was the best thing ever added to the series way better than the Homing Attack.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).... It had long loading times but I have soo much fun with the game because it is soo cheesy and soo terribly made... That being said it is such a cute little game :3
@GamerNerdTalk: I went on a Sonic marathon once I re-visited the franchise, thanks to the 20th anniversary PSN offer couple years back, and I gotta say that I don't get how anybody can stomach '06. I really tried to like it, but no, it's a broken mess.
