Its this some attempt to bash the 360 version of FFXIII? You know, the game that was meant to be PS3 exclusive but was lost.AnjunaddictHe was simply asking a question, chill bro k?

The answer?
Yes.
Square Enix calls it a port.
FFXIII's Kitase calls it a port.
It's a port, but I'm pretty sure it will be just fine, like Oblivion on PS3.:P

FF13 Due Japan 2009, 360 PORT NOT YET STARTED!
The long-awaited Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, 360) will hit Japan in 2009, developer Square Enix reaffirmed at a dedicated invite-only event this weekend.
Following contradictory reports from numerous sources, the studio confirmed to Shacknews that all news stemming from the recent event was for the Japan only, including word that Final Fantasy XIII would arrive in 2009.
Though Square announced an Xbox 360 port of the one-time PlayStation 3 exclusive RPG at this year's E3, the studio has not yet started work on or even received the development kits for the port. A playable PS3 demo, meanwhile, is due out in March.
Final Fantasy XIII Producer Details Xbox 360 Port
LOS ANGELES -- Speaking through a translator, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase explained the company's plans to bring the game to the Xbox 360 as an effort to "bring as much fun to as many people as possible."
More pragmatically, he also mentioned that the change in the title's PlayStation 3 exclusivity was necessary due to "market situation for the Xbox 360 in the U.S. and Europe."
Square Enix claims the game is still far too early in development to reveal (or even speculate at) a release date, though the company did reveal their current work schedule: First, the company will finish the Japanese PlayStation 3 version, which will then be localized for North America and Europe.
Once that's completed, work will begin on the Xbox 360 version.
Though that would seemingly indicate a delayed release for the newly-announced port, Kitase emphasized Square Enix's efforts to release the different versions nearly simultaneously.
"As for the timing between the U.S. and Europe, we will try to make it as close as possible. We'll try to expedite localization," he said.
Unfortunately, Square was unable to reveal how the storage disparity between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3's game discs would be dealt with.
He stressed the company's goal to keep the two versions as similar as possible, however, saying "the content will be the same, though the format might be different."
-------------------------
"I'd like to add... I think that maybe because it's going multiplatform that some fans are worried about the game's scope being reduced to fit onto both consoles. The fact is, the PS3 version is what's in development right now, and the team is working to specialise that version to the very best of the PS3's abilities," series Producer Yoshinori Kitase did, in fact, add.
"After that, we'll do the 360 port and optimize it to that particular hardware."
Final Fantasy PRODUCER Yoshinori Kitase said said it's a port, the end. :P

No, No time has SE or FFXIII"s Producer Kitase called the PS3 version a port.
This has been gone over so much in SW, with link after link in hundreds of threads.
To save you trouble, no one has said that save for posters in SW. :P
It's all good, it's going to be an excellent port.
INstead of link, since we can all Google that, let's think about this....the PS3 version has been worked on Years before the 360 deal was made.:P
Besides, every game ever made is practically made on PC's first, but those aren't "ports". That's just folks in SW trying to create a new defiinition for "port".
That's not how it works though.:P
There isn't even a PC version coming of FFXIII known at this time.:P

Okay, Time for Links and stuff. Why!!!? :P

The FF team responsible didn't even start porting the game until recently...

This is SE's bread and butter, the Final Fantasy Series, they are going to make sure it shines.:)

You need to make "new graphic engine" to port game since one uses OpenGL 2nd used uses DX, but main engine is still the same

but something new had to be created therefor its not a port, if the sense that the ps3 version is a port as well since it was ported over from the PC. The 360 version is not a port in the defining essence of the term, not when they had to make a new engine for it, it wasn't as simple as OpenGL,DirectX im sure they had to put more engine reliance upon the GPU instead of the cpu like in the ps3 version. don't ask me, ask them ......... they reported they used two engines to have two equel games, of coure wht they meant is a modified engine (imo) .
does the 360 version have option to play with Japanese voice with English subtitles?DJ_HeadshotNo... and neither does the PS3 version. Only the Japanese version released back in Dec has that option. They should have just left all that stuff in. Doesn't make any sense.
Cause it a real b**** to transfer the code to the PS3 code. Lots of things has be be changes for the game to run properly on the PS3. It's pretty much a nightmare, which is why developers who make multiplat games have been either doing the games simultaneously or doing them on the PS3 first and porting them to XBox 360. Nothing is really lost when it's ported to the XBox 360 and it's a whole lot easier and less time consuming.Yes, it's a PS3 port. But unlike PS3 ports of 360 games, this game manages to look just as good as the PS3 version. Ever wonder why 360 ports of PS3 games matched the PS3 versions but not the other way around.

ShadowriverUB
Your actual graphics API calls are typically a very small, interchangable part of any graphics engine.
Also nobody uses version of OpenGL ES available on the PS3 anymore...they use very low-level library that's specific to the PS3.

What defines engine is it's API, you can have diffrent backend still API must be the same or else gameplay code need to be rewriten. Devlopers need to rewrite lot of backend code to port, sometimes more then 50%... still this process is called porting
Funny how when they say PR BS about about PS3 lems bash it, when they say PR BS about 360 lems stay silance or prase it as holy bible.... fanboy much
Yes. they took the PS3 version of the game engine then optimized it for the 360. technically its a port, but its a very very good one making it seem as if it is not. Besides the prerendered cinamatics everything else in the game is practically the same graphics wise (i mention the graphics because i know how u system wars people love graphics :P )
i would rather say " modified" over "optimized" , we yet know little knowledge about the x360 version so let's wait for some real analysis and reviews, but from the first look the x360 is looking on par.Yes. they took the PS3 version of the game engine then optimized it for the 360. technically its a port, but its a very very good one making it seem as if it is not. if by on par you mean with more compressed graphics and audio then yeah. its on par
i've got no problem waiting a month for both games to release (shouldnt the reviews be coming out in a couple weeks? im assuming gaming publications should be getting their copies any time now) but SE said themselves that they had to compress the sound and video.... which may not be an issue for some people, but im a home theater nut and well, alot of other people are too.

for the record, i wish the x360 verion to be screwed up, unplayable in other words, i was very upset when the announced the multiplatform release (no kidding), but i have to be honest, the x360 version is good enough so far, there will be some compromises but x360 fans will get it over it, i still believe the PS3 version will be the version of choice for almost 80% of the population (including me).

Nah you misunderstood what i meant, crystal tools whilst being developed for the ps3 is natively a multiplat engine, so i assumed that they always just meant "we will finish the ps3 version than start a 360 version from the ground up" , however i have never read that quote you had at the end.
I truly can't belive what i'm reading in this thread, it's like deja vu from "Heavy Rain is like Sims" talk form 9 minutes video thread with other gameplay videos on net
