FF 13 Versus?

Can someone explain what FF13 versus is? Is it like FF13 with different gameplay/ alternate story? And is there a release date for it?

FFv13 is Nomura's rendition of 13. FFXIII is the actual linear one following all the others carried out by one guy, while Nomura is carrying out his vision of XIII with versus. Different stories, different worlds, different characters, same Final Fantasy universe.
