FF graphics comparison demo (X1/PS4)

I know I'll catch hell for this....but I honestly saw just a little difference...but the one thing I did notice is that the X1 side usually looked choppy or something.

Let me know if anyone else sees it....or if I'm just crazy.

It looks literally identical, placebo effect of knowing the PlayStation 4 is more powerful has put a natural bias in your mental decisiveness.

They look the same, if there is going to be a difference I imagine it'll be the frame rate which won't be compared yet.

Still it's another blurry ass console game that looks like it's been smeared in Vaseline, just live Drive Club.

The PS3 will look crisper because of a higher res but you wont see that by a badly compressed youtube video.

Looks almost identical. In terms of resolution, there's only a 100p difference between them, 900p on PS4 and 800p on X1, which isn't easy to notice without pixel-counting. I noticed a difference at the Cidney scene, where the PS4 version has a slightly better frame rate (just barely) and lighting (though that's probably more to do with the time of day). I heard both versions were optimized with assistance from Sony and Microsoft, so that might have something to do with the X1 version being so well optimized.

The hair effects are just so awesome. Imagine if they had actual normal hairstyles instead of the gelled hairstyles their all rocking. Real hair physics.

Looks great on both consoles. Native 1080p is necessary for the final version, though.

PS4 looks like it might be running at a higher resolution. It is hard to tell because of compression artifacts, though. Both look choppy in areas. But I've got a six pack I ain't paying for your work btch.

It is extremely funny that cows and lems are comparing this but yet they claim they can't see any different in Witcher 3 4k images and their 900p garbage.

The hair physics is still impressive, using 20,000-30,000 hair polygons per character, more than any other game so far. But yeah, it would be nice to see some of that hair physics used for normal hairstyles instead of gelled hairstyles.

i can't spot any difference they both look very good props to square for making ti look great on both systems

The difference is that the 1920x1080p(around) space only allows for so much visible detail, and the majority of the time the texture assets are created around this resolution. I'm not saying the pc versions look worse--it is just that normally the case is a sharper image and smoother framerates.

Bro, I was just about to agree with you, because for the most part they are same; I can't tell see shit different between the 2 versions with the naked eye.

However, if you guys look at 1:49 - 1:53, The Xbone version has the shine effect on the side of the car, The PS4 version does not.

Whats FOV? Field of vision? There's a lot more to image quality than what people here stress. For example, a 720p tv can appear to have more detail than a 1080p tv if it renders colors better, and has a better contrast ratio. This is why I often laugh at the pc crowd making all these claims based on two numbers: that of resolution and framerate.

1080p is still the go to resolution for picture quality. Even the good OLEDs on the market lack motion resolution..............unless of course your monitor is a $25, 000 Sony OLED production monitor.

All of my years of trying to see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch have not prepared me for this.

Color and contrast have a lot to do with resolution. If a monitor isn't capable of properly displaying the images its being fed, then you aren't benefiting from the resolution.

What I said was that the assets for the game are created around the 1080p resolution. The image will appear sharper on a 4k display, but in reality that isn't always better. Most of the times, sure. Ryse, for example loses that slight muddiness the xbox version has. On the contrary, there may be scenes and areas that lack detail which may be accentuated by the higher resolution output. Think viewing a Sega Genesis game on a PVM vs a 1080p plasma.

At that same part, you'll also notice some jags on the car in the X1 version, either due to the slight 100p difference in resolution or less anti-aliasing. The PS4 version also has a slightly smoother frame rate.

With the lighting, it looks like the position of the Sun is at different locations during the Cidney scene. The sunlight is shining light at the front of the car in the PS4 demo but directly over the car in the X1 demo (making the shine more obvious), suggesting a a few hours difference in the day-night cycle.

What I noticed is that both versions graphically...put recent videos of TW3 to shame lol. Must be extremely vexing to hermits without current gen consoles.

The os4 demo runs at 900p while the xbone demo runes at less then 800p.. Atleast according to this

Congratulations to the Xbox for finally not turning off the lights in this game. The colours were actually on par with the ps4

tons of jaggies on both and those jaggies seem to run in 24fps on x1

In fact, I'm willing to bet they are the same footage. Or not, because at 1:49 you can see the car has less jaggies on PS4.

I was a bit disappointed when I played the demo. It does look good, but it's a bit rough around the edges. There is a lot of juggles.

Source:My Samsung F8500 has a far superior image quality to any 4K TV on the market. Yet my tv is 1080p. Hell it's got far superior image quality to all but 1 other TV that was on the market with it. 1080p is pixel count and nothing more.

slightly better frame rate for PS4 while being 100p higher, unless the frame rate that i see is from the Youtube video and not the feed of the video itself.

They look identical.

They look virtually identical, not surprising considering the hardware is virtually identical.

The Xbone had crushed blacks and was a little choppy but I only noticed because they were side by side. It must have been a nightmare for whomever edited this video, I don't think I could have kept track of which frame was generated on which system. You could have interchanged them and doubt anyone would have noticed.

Yep.

Yeah, the shadows look different on the guy's six-pack... and the same goes for the shadows over Cidney's boobs.

But again, that's because of the direction of the sunlight. The sunlight is just coming from slightly different directions, because of the different times of the day, though the difference is probably just a few hours in the day-night cycle.

Looks weak on both. They should make a pc version... and the difference between 800p and 900p is 200,000 pixels, not "100p"
