well kind of... Most FF is made for more ......i don't wanna say casual, but close to it.... Anyways... The only FF that is really HC in terms of PC/Console games is FFXI. I know that this game is generaly hated by most, but the amount of depth/skill/etc this game has/takes is insane, therfore making the FF series Hardcore in a sense.

I made this topic after seeing several posts about FF being casual trash over the last week or so and now that my 7day mod suspention is up - heres this topic

Ya know, FFXI is probably the only one in the series I will never play.

MMO's just aren't my thing, plus I don't have a PC of handling it.

But I love the series, can't wait for FFXIII!

Personally I think the rpg genre is more hardcore than some genres. Final Fantasy imo is more casual than Dragon Quest and Shin Megami but only by a small margin.

I have been playing FFXI for years and love it. I tried WoW and thought it was trash.

As for other FF games, the main story is usually easy, but there is a lot of extra stuff for the more hardcore fans.

I played FFXI for a couple of years, and there is a LOT to learn before you arnt even a n00b anymore.

I wouldn't call FF either hardcore or casual, but it is definitely the most mainstream RPG series

FFXI is the biggest time waster I've ever played. It can be fun near the start but once you get past level10 the grinding begins, the repetative grinding. Takes briefly about a whole year to fully level up you character class to 75. If you play like a casual. If you played like a hardcore, 6 months right there. It's rediculous.

It takes longer then that, and it's a dificult MMO. It's a MMORPG :? and the point of the game is to level up and make money. I played for a couple years, had a couple jobs in the 60's, it was a lot of fun but after wards I looked back and said "wtf did i do that for". No more MMORPGs for me

i still play on occasion. it can get very time consuming if u let it (just like any MMO) IMO WoW is alot more casual friendly than this, infact they could be polar oppisites.

I just don't like how you are so dependant on others. Just to level up, as a damage dealer level 60+, i waited 5-6 hours for a party invite, or days for a party invite for nothing.

Spent full DAYS looking for an alliance, just to set up a time later in the week to do a huge mission or quest. I sort of wish I had spent all that time doing something more productive :(

There's that word again. Hardcore.
