FF13 should have OWNED all the graphics awards

It's simply the graphics king on consoles.....there's nothing better than it with graphics, and the PC is varied due to the graphics card, montior, etc.

I can't believe other console games beat it like GRAND THEFT HORSE and God Of War 3 (which came close) but FF13 should have gotten it.

And this is about the sublime PS3 version, not the touched down 360 version although I'm sure that'll be better anyway.

The only nice thing about FFXIII was the CG cutscenes.

Please, oh please tell me you're joking. Final Fantasy XIII was linear almost to the point of annoyance. It's not technically impressive to make great looking games when you control exactly what the player will see. This argument is akin to saying that pre-rendered backgrounds are a technical marvel just because they look pretty.jalexbrown

FFXIII had the most amazing character models that I have ever seen but the rest was pretty average. Specially when you get to Pulse all the environment are a bunch of low res textures put together, it looked pretty because of the bright colors but nothing impressive to be honest. Overall RDR and GOWIII looks thousand of times much better, specially RDR considering its scale.

While it's my pick for best console graphics, the technical award should have gone to Metro 2033 (PC) - which wasn't even nominated for reasons I've yet to understand.

If you're implying every category consisted of mainstream titles, then go look at the nominees again. GS does cater to a certain demo, but it's not like they snub lower-profile titles entirely.

Ah, figured you were thinking of Crysis - which like you said is three years old. This is the 2010 awards. Metro 2033 (or would have, rather) competed against other 2010 titles, not Crysis.

Exactly, it missed the editor's choice nominees despite making a greater leap in technical advancement compared to other games which did make it. And the Wii is just MIA.

While we're on the subject of Reader's Choice nominees though, I should point out an expansion for Arma 2 got a nod. I'm sure it received some visual boost, but it is an expansion so I'm guessing it wasn't a great leap for PC gaming and therefore shouldn't have gotten any kind of attention, right?

And if technical advancement respective to the system were a major driving force behind the selection for the award, nominees from the weaker platforms would not be such rarities. What I'm pointing out is inconsistency in their selection.

I think most people was waiting for the game to actually be fun, instead they got emo cutscenes for 16 hours and the game ended.

A statement which can easily be applied to the PS3/360. And of course the PC, with really no ceiling to hit, can go further and further with greater leaps and therefore should sweep these awards by this logic.

Yet the console nominees...Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Lost Planet 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Mass Effect 2, and Final Fantasy XIII...are not a significant improvement over Uncharted 2, if at all. It's inconsistent.

As for the weaker platforms, some of the best looking titles on a system have always come out near the end of its lifetime. The Wii, PSP, and DS are no different.
