FF7 and Kingdom Hearts 3 will release in the next three years

According to CEO Yosuke Matsuda, it's hoping to launch both games "in the next three years or so".

So an update of sorts on these two highly anticipated games.

I wonder what will be released first, the FF7 remake or the Winds of Winter (the next Game of Thrones book).

If I knew how to do them I would make this a fun poll. Cause this forum needs a bit of fun.

FF7 Remake confirmed for PS5 instead of PS4. Oh well.

No matter they delay it or not. it will fail like Hitman 2016.(and then they'll shut down Eidos montreal)

Hitman 2016 is one of the best game of this gen.

The only reason that I would find acceptable for this lengthy development cycle would be that they have secretly been developing a new Chrono game.

Kingdom Hearts 3 was the game they showcased before the PS4 even launched and some folks literally bought a PS4 in anticipation of that game.

It's been years now and to add every hardware revision would no doubt add to additional work needing to be done. KH3 back then didn't need to be compatible with the PS4 Pro or the Scorpion because neither of those existed or were even a thought at the time. In three years, their will probably be additional hardware changes meaning additional work. I have no faith that KH3 will release this gen to be honest. FF7 Remake is dead to me as it's not bound by the story and events of the original and it will be episodic. They could literally change the names and locations of all the characters in FF13/2/LR to match those in FF7 and it would match all the guidelines they set up for the game but then again, I never want to replay FF7 ever again.

@ghosts4ever: I wasn't saying it isn't. was saying that Episodic format will make FF7 Remake to sell less copies.(like the way that it damaged Hitman 2016 sales)

Final Fantasy VII Remake was shown back in 2015 and we won't be seeing this until 2020 or so...lol. I love when games get showcased, looks amazing or what I'm anticipated for and then won't see the game until I'm married with 2 kids and they're graduating college...

These games won't launch on current consoles. They'll launch on PS5/ Xbox Two and it will be close to FOURTEEN YEARS since Kingdom Hearts 2 was released.

All I am learning from this thread is that people want to learn about their videogames from industry leakers. AS IF a game like FFVII or KH3 could possibly be kept super duper secret until the last minute. Who do you think makes videogames? Lockheed Martin?

I really hate it when a new game which is barely made yet is announced way too early for its release. It's just like how Death Stranding was announced in 2016 but will be released in 2019. Just wait when the game is far into development and then announce it to the public.

I'm not even surprised. They re f*cking atrocious when it comes to project management. If it were any other devs, they would have gone under a long time ago. But SE has way too many dumb idiot fanboys that blindly buy their products.

Remember two years ago when people were all hyped and saying that Sony won E3 2015 because of them:

• Announcing this Final Fantasy remake which still has around another 3 years before it releases around 2020.
• Announcing a kickstarter campaign for Shenmue 3 which we still haven't seen anything on two years later.
• Reintroducing The Last Guardian which had been in development hell for the prior 8 years.

Add in there are still several big things from their shows one and two years ago, FF7 and Shenmue 3 like you mentioned, that have yet to even have anything whatsoever to show since.

Edit: Also fully agree that FFVII is overrated. Beat it at around 40 hours, enjoyed it, but doesnt really compare to a lot of other JRPGs. Will never understand the maniacs that have told me they've put 300 hours into a play through, and still replay it every year.

I can understand Final Fantasy VII taking this long for a few reasons but what is going on with Kingdom Hearts III, it's very much approaching the point of ridiculousness in terms of development time, hell when they showed it off like three years ago it looked like a fully functioning game..
