Awhois searchof that domain reveals it to be owned by Square Enix ? registered, in fact, under CEO Yoichi Wada's name.

Square Enix hasn't officially announced the new version yet, so we don't know when this is due, but the cached page prices it at £7.99 / ?9.99 (about $12.50). joystiq

Sounds stupid. Ofcourse this is coming from someone who already beat the game and wasnt a big fan.

kinda surprised they arent porting this to 360 considering out the HD twins it hasnt got the game and it would be surprisingly easy money for Square.

Also if they threw in the music from distant worlds. That Sh!t would be dope.

It will be nice to see it and hopefully there will be some guys around that write mods for it, like a graphic mod, playable Sephi and maybe others (Zack, and the guys from CC?), some new weapons and stuff like that? ^^

It's not a remake or anything just an up res'd version maybe with a few better looking areas and maybe a bit more HD looking. But it's the same basic game

I don't think the whois registree means it's necessarily the real Square Enix.

It is the exact same release as the original PC version, just on steam. Do not expect anything to be new, textures, res, or otherwise. It is just a re-release of the game so people do not have to track down retail copies to play it on PC. BibiMaghoo

Dat crystal ball. If they found the time to implement chievos, and online stat features, character booster.. They at the very least better put the PS1 music into the PC version. The midi tracks are awful. But yeah more people will get to experience this game on the PC.. The PC copy isn't exactly easy to get ahold of from what I've heard, legally..

Just keep pressing cancel on the user/password prompt. Looks pretty legit to me. It's not exactly news that is worth pranking people over either.. If it was a remake then yeah then suspicion might be raised.. But it's just a steam release...

This has to be one of the most pointless ideas ever. Releasing FF7 for download to PC and adding a bunch of cheats. This feels lukewarm at best. This feels so half**** I am wondering why they're bothering...
