I have heard a few times around 10 hours into the game. That is why I will never play the game since there is a ton of games I can start having fun right away.

nothing really changes (gameplay wise) which adds 'fun' 10+ hours in...its just the story starts to pick up.. THATS IT! the combat is still as bad as it was at the start.

Well I am glad I have stayed away. Maybe when it is a $15 game I will still give it a shot but I am not eager to do it because I have heard so much bad things.
I found it interesting from start to finish. The story didn't truly pick up for a little while though.

Same with me. The moment I turned on the game was when I started having fun. It does get better though a few hours in once everything becomes available to you.
IMO from the start till ch.11 (where i stopped cuz of studys), the game is great, the Battle-system is fun thing about it, DON'T LISTEN TO REVIEWS OR HATERS!, try it out!

The first few hours are pretty tedious, but it picks up once you start getting more combat options. I don't know if it gets better beyond that, since maybe 8ish hours in I stopped playing (put off mainly by the terrible characters) and haven't touched it in months.
Im around 14 hours into the game. Its been pretty fun since the beginning. And this is my first FF so my standards might not be so high. Way to linear but the battle system and the story keeps me interested.
I heard 20-25 hours till it gets "good". I can't speak for that though since I stopped after 11 hours. Being forced to use Snow after 7 hours of ignoring he existed was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
I found it good from start to finish. The only thing that bugged me was it took a bit to finally make my own team. The story also didint really kick in till mid-end part of the game.
I go back to the game once in a while and plug away at it for half an hour. I think I'm 14 or 15 hours in right now. It's certainly not getting any better - it's pretty atrocious, actually. Any game that expects you to slog through 25 hours of bull**bleep** was created by someone out of his gourd, or someone with absolutely no concept of game design. Though I've tortured myself for 15 hours, so I'm just as insane.
Honestly, the game started out mediocre. Graphics and look was amazing. But the first like two to three hours were just repetitive and no real depth. Chapter two and three introduces more battle elements and the style starts getting more complex and fun. Super linear and no real awesome story elements until chapter 7. At this point, the game is getting a bit more worthwhile. A few more hours, and chapter 10 is finish. You watch a cutscene, and you start chapter 11. You'll find out that they completely toyed with your brain by disregarding all patterns they did in the past 25 hours of gameplay. After several hours of playing, you have to stop and take a break because you are most likely overwhelmed. It's also this time that you find out the game isn't as bad as most people say. The rest of the game only gets better, and more difficult.
I found it fun all the way through the game, though the beginning was super slow. The length and feel of the last three chapters make up for it, for me.
