FFXIII X360 flops real hard in Japan..why did SE even bother?

Thought this was pretty funny and intresting to share on SW. Square Enix after a year decided to release a 360 version of FFXIII thinking it may generate some sales for them but first week of sales for the game didnt even exceed the 22k making it to #39 out of 50 on the charts. sometime i wonder what SE thinks. did they really think that the game would sell any better then ps3?? lolz... they should have put all that money on finishing up versus XIII or making a better FF14.anyways link below:

People in Japan with a 360 and not a PS3 perhaps would like a chance to play it since all that was needed to be done was put the new language on the 360 disk. Why are you having a fit over this? You really think this localization cost SE valuable dev time for vs? Please, Versus was announced more then 4 years ago :roll:

This weeks numbers are not out yet... GT5 did only 26,600 last week do you think it managed over 22k this week?

They sacrifice the integrity of the FF franchise and this is all they have to show for it. I'm glad.

It makes no sense from a buiesness standpoint. I like the game alot,but im pretty sure the majority of people in jpn already got it for the ps3 so it makes no sense to release a 360 version so long afterwards. Especially since jpn doesint care much for the 360.

Probably the most unsurprising news possible. Really, I have no idea what the hell goes on behind closed doors at SE. Its like the company was hijacked by a tribe of monkeys with downs syndrome. Maybe they have some extended competition going on at SE. Which guy at the company can consecutively make the most bad decisions w/out sending SE into bankruptcy.

No wonder a lot of the old talent left.

Thats what SquareEnix gets.....with the amount of time it took them to release it in japan on X360 they could have already fixed FFXIV and even worked on another game. They deserve those low sales.

so lame FFXIII seriously is just not exactly the best of the final fantasy's ive played though ive said it a million times before, im not sure that its release on xbox made it worse to me, but i honestly felt like i bought it for graphics, it just isnt as enjoyable to play :| they should put more work into the others but i have massive expectations for versus, the new battle system already has me sold on it, the characters as well...the fact that its an exclusive is an added bonus, i can almost gauruntee a better JRPG cause of this. Now all thats left to do is hope it is!

There is many reasons why Final Fantasy 13 is the only Final Fantasy that I never beaten, but one strong reason is because of the combat, my god. :(

I doubt they are as stupid as you make them out to be. They would have had a reason to do it, either it didn't cost them much or someone like microsoft funded the whole thing, I don't think a company that's been around for that long would do something that will obviously lose them money.soulitane

I see why you might think that, but you really need to take a look at SE's history. They have made plenty of horrible decisions over the years. The reason why they are now Square Enix rather than Squaresoft is due to a mistake that almost cost them the business.

It also helps having a heads up that the game is terrible. Can't believe I bought the limited edition guide. At least it can be emergency toilet paper one day.

LOL Finalstar as always you provide a good time with you antimicrosoft everything.

I just don't see how you can do it in this instance though the content was there, the game was there It likely cost them much of nothing to do this version of the game in japan they already had the game it self done, all they needed to do was add japanese text which they already had they could have easily deligated this to a small team of 5 or 10 people and spent very little money.

This is 22k sales they didn't have before and likely didn't spend much money to get that 22k sales and it will likely sell that much for a few more weeks and keep a steady pace.

SE is really making some stupid decisions, this one is the stupidest of them all.

Might seem like it on the surface,

But in truth, it was Microsoft that likely paid and/or incentivise this to happen.

Why? Because even though its a losing battle in Japan, they feel they at least need to have a presense there, even if Japan doesn't like XBOX 360 in general.

By the way How did It flop?

1.It wasn't hyped to be a certain score so it had no score to meet.
