New info has been released on this game. The battle mechanics are looking really good in concept. Time will tell if it actually plays well but I haven't seen other MMO companies doing what SE is trying to do here. The character designs are really nice as well and the graphics will surely look great considering FFXIV shares the same graphics engine as FFXIII. Beta testing is beginning soon which will lead right into the launch of the game later this year. I think this could turn into something big but we'll see. It's definately worth watching.

Well FFXI was the nly MMORPG I was able to get into, So I expect good things from FFXIV.

Yeah and when you put it in it will automatically know you got the PS3 version and then give you a new code for FF14.. i did it yesterday and got in

Those codes are no guarantee for getting into the beta. SE is only accepting a very limited amount of people at the start. Vanafest attendees and current FFXI players get priority at first. SE will then be adding more and more people as time goes on.

Does look quite good. I'm interested in the Lancer since I played as a Dragoon for the short time I spent with FFXI. I'm pretty excited to receive my copy of FF13 just for the beta code now :P

I doubt thats a problem at all.They already had PC, PS2 and Xbox 360 users all on the same servers with FFXI so I'm sure they could do the same with FFXIV if they decided to release it on the Xbox 360.

Got the limited strategy guide, limited edition soundtrack, the Elixir set (which is a gorgeous collectible), and the 360 faceplate even though I bought the PS3 version of the game. Oh, and of course my prized FF13 Lightning Edition PS3 Slim. Yeah, I'm crazy...

PS3 can use mouse + keyboared too also mouse was useless in FFXI I always played using joystick even on PC.

To those of you who questioned me saying this, there was an interview with FFXIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka back at GamesCom.

Ongoing discussions with Microsoft about how Final Fantasy XIV is to work with Xbox Live are partly to blame for the lack of announced 360 version, producer Hiromichi Tanaka told VG247 at GamesCom today.

"FFXI for 360; at that point PS2 didn't have a hard disc and that was really difficult for us, but Xbox 360 had that from the beginning, so that really helped us. We managed to smoothly move onto 360 from the Windows version, so that was very good to us," said the developer.

"However, for FFXIV, because 360 has its own policy with Xbox Live that is different from the internet, that's something we're in discussions with Microsoft about, to come to an agreement. That's one of the reasons it's not going to be launched at that point."

The "point" being the simultaneous release of the PS3 and Windows versions next year.VG247

I know other MMOs have had problems with the 360 due to X-Box Live policies being too strict. SE has still not announced a 360 version of FFXIV so I assume an agreement between SE and MS has not been made yet.
