Key Features/Additions:

  • FIFA 09 delivers a new level of authenticity. The matchday experience is now true-to-life with a referee and assistants. Plus, crowds, stadium atmosphere, and commentary have all been regionalised in exacting detail and 15 new stadiums added.
  • Polished, refined gameplay - Featuring 250 additions and enhancements to core gameplay, including new animation technology that creates more responsive first-time shooting and passing, faster and more controlled dribbling, and improved trapping, and new player momentum physics that delivers realistic player collisions, authentic jostling for the ball, and more variation in tackling.
  • Adidas Live Season - Dynamic update of player information in-game that mirrors real-life performances. Feel the change in gameplay performance as teams in the real world experience the highs and lows during their campaigns. All the top leagues are included: Barclay's Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and Mexican Primera Division.
  • Custom Team Tactics - Become a first-team coach with the power to tune and balance 11 tactical sliders for 140 attacking and 40 defending options (more than 50,000 combinations) so CPU players and your team perform just like the real-world team or how you think the real team should play. Save your tactics to make strategic decisions to exploit your opponent's weaknesses during the game. Plus, share your strategies with friends online.
  • Be A Pro: Seasons - Pick or create a professional player and test your ability over a four season campaign. Master a single position and develop your skills -- passing, shooting, positioning, marking -- to ultimately become a national legend.
  • Be A Pro: 10 vs 10 Online Team Play - Create your own team of up to 10 friends all playing fixed outfield positions to challenge rival teams of up to 10 players. Instead of thinking as an individual player now you have to think and play as a team.
  • FIFA 09 Clubs - Create your own club or simply join an existing club and compete in an organised league when playing 10 v 10 Online Team Play. FIFA 09 Clubs will determine the best virtual team in the world with up-to 50 players able to join a club. Club Managers select the team and can recruit players for their squad. Compete with friends across 15 divisions to be the best club in the world.
  • Improved Goalkeeper Intelligence - Goalkeepers position themselves more intelligently, react to shots more realistically and recover from saves faster.
  • Customised Controllers - Create your own bespoke controller configuration, save it and even take it online effortlessly. Assign actions to the buttons exactly how you like them for complete control.
  • WII Version: Play with your Mii™ alongside your heroes Ronaldinho, Wayne Rooney and other football stars created as customised characters in an arcade version of the beautiful game. Play 8 vs 8 Footii Match mode for addictive pick-up-and-play arcade action suitable for all levels of ability. Steal the ball and make outrageous shots by simply waving your Wii Remote™. You've never played football like this before! Plus, Footii Party Games called Table Football and Boot It have been overhauled for more great fun with family and friends.

FIFA 09 List

Key Features/additions:

Gameplay:
Close control more intuitive:
• Manual cursor control
• Adjusted trick control for easier control – more within natural control parameters than via special movements

Ball movement more realistic:
• Ball has always been treated as separate entity, but 2009 has new air resistance calculations for trajectory of ball
• Instant control. Buttons presses are no longer stored, making for a crisper playing ****br /> • Heavier foot-in tackles, depending on the length X is depressed
• New friction routines to affect ball movement in terms of ground conditions
• Backspin routines calculated so ball slows accordingly
• The bounce of the ball can be used more effectively: players can flick the ball up to tee a shot, or to lift it over a defender's trailing leg
• Skills are now integrated more into the game. If a player has the ability, they will be able to perform deft turns others cannot and will be able to feint and shimmy within the confines of the control system
• Player has to compensate for heaviness of ground when weighting passes in wet conditions or frozen ground

Teamvision enhanced:
• Tactics change according to situation
• Better off-the-ball movement – running to receive passes, etc
• AI recognizes strategies that work and accumulates data on an ongoing basis within Master League and League modes

Visuals:
Stadiums:
• Graphic depiction of weather conditions unique to each stadium
• Much more detailed lighting effects that mimic the time of day more closely
• Key new grounds like Wembley, in total about 20 stadiums
• LED hoardings (PS3 and 360 versions only)
Players:
• All new players models in game: everything reworked for additional detail
• Specific new animations to make the game flow more: players now stumble, place a hand down so as to keep running
• More individuality to movement of players: running and kicking ****, for instance: Ronaldo's stance before a free kick

Camera:
• New vertical camera, allowing end-to-end view including 'Player Focus' zoom, panning in on key one-on-one situations
• New distance drawing techniques using adjusted chromatic fields

Front End - Menus:
• All new, clearer menu system
• Match stats now on sub-menus if required
• Much improved music choice

Edit:
Sound:
• In addition to the importation of graphic data, music and crowd chants can also be added
Graphics:
• Pixel Paint function allows users to create team badges from scratch

Game Modes:
Become a Legend:
• New long-term mode sees player guiding one player to glory
• Control the destiny of a midfield/striking star
• Player works within team structure, akin to popular 'Fix' mode – assisting play, scoring goals, etc
• Default vertical view
• Dedicated development data for player as game progresses
• Full range of transfer opportunities: but fail to play well and you will be demoted to bench or even transferred
• Based on popular Japanese mode, first time in Europe

Legends:
• Online version of 'Become a Legend'
• Use player created in solo mode
• Play online with other 'fixed' position friends
• Intricate play and teamwork rewarded with PES points

Master League
• More intuitive menus
• Easier to understand two-tier negotiations: team level and individual terms
• Loyalty: players unhappy with terms, etc, will not play as well. A happy player will play better

Trailer / Videos

  • GC 2008: Teaser Trailer

  • Uefa Champions Leage Trailer

Demo:

  • PS3:Not out.

Pro Evo used to be by far the better game, but has stood still for the last 5 version and Fifa has caught up and perhaps even surpassed it. Honestly I was a stalwart Pes fan as well, try fifa again it has come on in leaps and bounds

How can people still prefer 8 way running over the smooth running that seems to be 16 or even up to 32 on the FIFA 09.

I was so impressed by the fifa 09 demo, it seems it got everything right this time around. It got what made PES so great last gen, off the ball gameplay. The tactics are even much improved.

Seeing how some players run and call for the ball without even needing to tell them to do that is great.

I think PES developers are still stuck on last gen, might be because they are so stretched out on all these systems so they can't really focus on the engine that much.

But when Seabass says that PES 2009 is not a real "next-gen" version of PES, then one should watch out. He said the same thing about 2008, promising that 2009 would be next real PES that takes the step to next-gen (current-gen).

Same here. I was PES all the way since i was a kid, but now it seems they haven't made any progress. they have even stripped down these current-gen versions.

The only thing that got me excited about PES are "be a pro mode" which seems to be more fleshed out then the FIFA "copy" and that you can import sound files (chants).

For some reason i actually prefer the way pro evo 2009 looks visually. Fifas graphics are techinically better but the pitches look dark and i dont enjoy playing it as much as i do with pro evo. I also hate all EAs menus and stuff.

Yea. I overall dont like the feel of Fifa. The feeling of scoring a goal in Pro Evo is much better for me.

I'm thinking about PES 2009 on Wii, I've been toying with the idea of getting 08 but I hear the defense controls are bad compared the awesomness of the outfield stuff, so ima hope they fix that and some other stuff and get that, not had a football game since like FIFA 2003. PES made me change my mind because of the interesting control scheme.

PES needs to revamp the menu system and overall presentation (including getting more licenses). Make more modes and change up the gameplay to make it more fresh. Fifa just needs to work on the game feeling slow and stiff, I also do not like that all goals feel similar.

For more animations, more realism, smoother gameplay, and FINALLY Champion's League License Pro Evo.

But, I've always loved FIFA anyways, so I'll simply get both. I have Pro Evo 08 and FIFA 08:D

Fixed. The only good thing is the Champion's league license.

Last years PES was a disappointment and it seems they haven't improved on the game that much. I hope the demo will surprise me.

Wait......wait wait wait wait. Are you accurate with the fact that FIFA 09 is actually going to have the whole Argentine League. I need to see the source of this because I dont believe it. Either way I am going with FIFA 09. 10 v 10 online should be lots of fun and hopefully lag doesnt kill it.

FIFA 09 has Albania as a national team? That's it, FIFA 09 for me. I was impressed with how much FIFA has evolved, and I loved 08 over PES 2008, so now, I think I'm going FIFA everytime. EA is bringing the best out of their lisences, and the gameplay is a lot more polished and better.

Wait......wait wait wait wait. Are you accurate with the fact that FIFA 09 is actually going to have the whole Argentine League. I need to see the source of this because I dont believe it. Either way I am going with FIFA 09. 10 v 10 online should be lots of fun and hopefully lag doesnt kill it.balindos

Right out of the box? We are comparing the games when they come out right out of the box. Not modded version of the games.

For less animations, less realism, same since 2004 gameplay, and FINALLY Champion's League License Pro Evo.

But, I've always loved FIFA anyways, so I'll simply get both. I have Pro Evo 08 and FIFA 08:D

True_Gamer_

Fixed. The only good thing is the Champion's league license.

Last years PES was a disappointment and it seems they haven't improved on the game that much. I hope the demo will surprise me.

FIFA:

Floaty baloony ball: check

Ugly monkey/zombies: check

Trash Bags instead of shorts: check

0 deph of stats/ all players the same: check

0 deph of pre match tactics: check

FIFA=joke

It seems you haven't played the FIFA 09 Demo.

Reality: PC version superior to any other because mods exist in reality

Fake so called fantasised fanboy mode: Mods are product of imagination

Hmm which one is the right?

Pro Evo, even if Fifa were better this year. All in all I've always preferred PES, and I only have PC so I rather take the moddastic PES than a gimped version of Fifa. But I don't usually buy sports games every year so I think I might skip this one.

Krigon

  1. 8 directions in PES, 16 directions in FIFA, I haven't experienced any advantage at all.
  2. Tactics existed from the first PES, what are you talking about ? lol.
  3. in PES 09 the AI could do this.
  4. I have PES 08 on PS3, it is a next gen game on a next gen system...btw FIFA 09 plays like WE 4, talking about outdated gameplay huh?
  5. Prove it with links.

---

  • player faces on FIFA 08 and 09 looks like crap, on the other hand PES 08 had the exact and more realistic faces, even rookies like Yoann Gourcuff had their Faces right, FIFA doesn't have this depth of presentation.

  • Every player is the same in FIFA while PES players has their own signature moves and animations even their primary feet they play with in real life, for example, Messi plays in his left foot in real life and in PES while in FIFA he plays on both feet.

---

The only flaws in PES 08 were the lack of game modes and features, plus online, other than that, the gameplay was better just like always.

When PES fans talk about disappointment, they talk about PES and what it usually offers, this doesn't mean FIFA is better when compared to PES, this doesn't mean PES fans will switch to FIFA lol, people these days takes everything out of context.

I just don't know! PES 2008 was horrible, played it on my friends 360 so I ended up skipping a year of footballing bliss.

I tried the FIFA demo and was throughly impressed but the PES in me doesn't feel like giving up just yet :P
