This isn't even about how good Zack and Wiki is anymore, but about something much more important. Telling developers that Wii owners want titles with high production values, interesting ideas, cool characters, and amazing gameplay!

Every once in a while we stumble upon a surprisingly excellent videogame - a title whose smart play mechanics and stylized visuals are so well married that we're taken aback by the end result. Not necessarily because the final product is a masterpiece, but simply because it is much better than we had originally expected it to be.

All told, Zack & Wiki is a winner. It might not win you over with its characters or story, but it will with its wonderfully crafted puzzles and sharp control mechanics. It's just the sort of game Wii owners have been pining for, the sort of game that blends accessibility and challenge into one seamless whole, and does it without devolving into yet another minigame collection. And best of all? This game is retailing for only $40. If you own a Wii, Zack & Wiki belongs in your collection.

That's the other thing about the visuals: They're completely and shockingly misleading. This is most certainly not just a kids' game, and it'll be far too hard for most children to play alone. It's a great game for parents to play with their kids, though, and equally so for pairs of adults (another issue for kids is that -- despite its "E" rating -- it can be a downright creepy game at times, and it's oddly morbid watching Zack get impaled on spikes or Wiki freeze to death after a misstep). Some levels take a solid hour or two of perseverance, head-scratching, and eventual bouts of trial-and-error to crack.

I went to 4 places today looking for it, even temporarily ending my boycott of Gamestop. But, alas, I returned empty handed.

I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Yeah, it's more puzzle, so I probably won't get it for a while. There's a lot of other games like mario galaxy that I cannot WAIT FOR!!!

But yes, I am relieved Nintendo is starting to get better 3rd party support, I was fearing it wouldn't get any other than RE4, which I beat on gamecube

I assume you meant ONLINE multiplayer, as Z&W does have multiplayer.

Is that what we really want to tell developers? That multiplayer is now the #1 priority? Are amazing single player experiences dead?
I completely understand if you hve higher gaming priorities, but really.. ask yourself if any of those games are going to be hurting in the sales department compared to ZnW. I say, let developers know we want original and well made content. Bring back point and click!

I have been looking forward to trying ZnW since i heard about it. I want to let developers know that there is a market for unique and amazing games, but beyond that.. zack and wiki looks plain fun.. so i'm buying it.

How can a point and click have multiplayer? Ratchet and Mass effect have no multiplayer either.

Z&W could have co-op. I can think of how something like that would work.

1.) Multiplayer shouldn't be the deciding factor on whether or not you buy a good game.

2.) Three out of the five games on your list aren't multiplayer, either. Oops.

Ditto. Plus, I want a game with actualy replay value, not just a game that I can only play once and be done with it. What's the point in playing the puzzles over again if we already know the answers? (Yes, there are a FEW puzzles with multiple solutions, but that is not the majority).

its a puzzle adventure game. Ittakes advantage of the wii remote in such a way that critics have even said this is a title that can only be done on the wii.As you can already tell it uses cel shading and features two characters exploring various and varied locations in search of treasure. The visuals are apparently quite excellent with both fluid animations and excellent use of cel shading. Like the classic point and click adventures, you direct your characters rather then takig actual control of them. You solve puzzles by using the wiiremote in many different ways, and teh puzzles themselves are excellent and rewarding(as are the boss fights apparently). Also; apparently there is some good replayvalue b/c you can go back and replay stages and each stage can be completed in multiple ways. The story details i do not know, but the game isgood/unique enough that IGN feels it necissary to tell you to buy it. now.

If I hadn't spent $10 on OXM for the GHIII demo that's out for free today on the 360's Marketplace, I could get this and Galaxy!

There are multiple paths through each level. It's not like each puzzle is stand-alone. Solving the puzzles in different sequences yields different results.
