Final Fantasy 14 > Final Fantasy 13 in one area for sure

Anyone has played every FF knows that FFXI is the only one where you entire outfit changes as you buy gear.(never played x-2 mind you)

Final Fantasy 11 was the first one to allow you to look different as you bought new gear, which to me was awesome. FF12 allowed weapon and shield changes, and that was it. In this generation to its just unacceptable not to have clothing appear changes which your changing gear to wear in your menu. I'm sure I'm all alone on this, but it just plan sucks, plus what if you hate the characters starting gear? looking at you Vaan. Way to metro sexual to be a lead character in my book. Both the other guys are way more suitable.

The reason they don't do that is because of the incredible amount of design that goes into the characters. It would be a real kick in the artists balls to just slap some big, heavy set of armor over the character that they designed for months at a time. NAPK1NS

I thought you were going to say it "has better online" which would be obvious for the obvious reason. The two games are completely different and are not even battling eachother. They are allied games.get-ka12

Regardless if MMO only, its lame. In this generation of graphics we don't need imagination of oh I'm wearing spirit armor. But hey I look like I did when I began the quest. Oblivion I salute you.caseypayne69

Reminds me of when i spent 30+ minutes making my character in Demons Souls, only to have him covered in armour from head to toe.

And your right TC, FFX-2 had different clothes with its dress sphere system. FF14 is better in this regard, but i dont think it really matters.

In Final Fantasy 10-2 they changed clothes according to what job sphere you had them using. Other then that all other FF's have only cheanged weapon and shield appearances.

JRPGs are more story oriented. Lightning would look ridiculous in a combat armor in a love scene.

I'm sure 13 will be great. But I'm more excited about 14. I owned 11 for four years. I just hope FF14 learned from WoW that HEY MAYBE I WANT TO SOLO MORE. FF11 was so party only.caseypayne69

Cool. I regret not getting on the FFXI ship when it was in its prime. Im definately not letting that happen with 14. Day 1.

Tomose is the name of the artist, and apparently makes a series of some form called Akatsuki No Goei.

Noramlly, id agree with ya. It normally annoys me in most JRPG's that despite my character being kitted out in all this cool sounding stuff, he looks exactly as he did from the start.

In FF13 though, i'll let it go. The Character designs are the best i've seen in a JRPG, plus it probably has a ton of CGI cutscenes.

...and I expect FFXIV to be the same.

The problem is characterization. They spend the majority of time perfecting the story and characters. Also, Lightning would lose all of her beauty if she was in a suit of armor and it would feel strange. Personally, I like that JRPGs don't have changing armor. Although, I do like it when they show a change in weaponry.

Atire and clothing is one of the lesser important details anyway. The gameplay etc is far more important.get-ka12

I used to have hold the same grudge towards japanese RPG developers, but now I'm all over that stuff. Just turn toward WRPGs and Demon's Souls to satisfy the dress-up fetish.
