FINAL FANTASY 15 ANTI-HYPE THREAD (I'M SO EXCITED!)

UPDATE: 84 Meta, 8/10 Gamespot? Consider me shocked. Um.. Anyone played it? Is it actually good? I still can't believe it came in positively received.

ALRIGHT- so, on Tuesday, the biggest "I have no clue how good or bad this will be" comes out-The infamous Final Fantasy 15. The ten years of development hell has come to an end and I have no hopes for this movie tie-in mess. I've made a bet with myself:

If this game Metacritic's at over a 90, I'll purchase it to show I was wrong.

But my prediction is a Meta of around 75, Gamespot at 7, but the game will play like shit and deserve more of a 5/10.

I predict a 6/10 and the game will be just the same rehashed weeaboo trash.

Is there a better demo out yet? Last one killed my low expectations.

The movie prequel was good though.

Everything has been scoring 8/10 for the past few weeks, so I think this will be an 8/10 as well.

I'm guessing...pretty environments, lots of content, dull combat?

I'm hoping for the best honestly, but I haven't played the game, only going off a few videos and lots of reading. Long developmental times are never a good sign...

It'll be 8/10 at most. 6/10 at least.

There's even a mission where the whole team is looking for a... wedding dress. Talk about queer eye for the staight guy.

My bet is an average of a 7/10 but no higher than an 8. And user score will be noticeably higher. There's alotta hate going around anime games by critics but in this case, I would probably agree with them. And I LOVE anime.

This thread reminded me of KINGSGLAIVE so i decided to watch it. Not done watching but its not so bad, probably a million times better than the game.

I dont even think a 10/10 would convince me.

If it Metas above 80, I might think about buying it for more than $20. I liked the prequel movie, but I have to admit that the Clueless Gamer video made me think that there might not be a whole lot to look forward to with the game itself. Also, I think 'Final Fantasy' and 'Season Pass' are two phrases that rightfully deserve to be as far away from each other as humanly possible.

If you imagine such a situation or mission on an old school FF it might seem funny. The problem is that with realistic looking boyband characters it seems kind of off but the situation itself is not so different as the funny bits in other FFs.

I'd like to say it will revolutionize the series... Revitalize it to a new age... But after watching videos I just can't tell if what I'm looking at is really fresh and exciting or absolutely ridiculous.

I'm a bit more concerned about the technical details. They could not get the game to run smoothly as of September. As for the theme and game play, this is looking a lot to be like XII. XII was good, if a bit different.

Probably 8, barring some horrendous gameplay issues, or just being really dull. Development Hell will probably strike again.

I think the story itself, character development..etc will be the one thing that makes or breaks this game. But visually looks epic. If I get a PS4 Pro, I'll definitely nab this one. I suspect GS will give it a 9/10. Let's not judge on looks of the characters alone now, if we judged each other based on that, we'd all be laughing at one another.

I expect most places to give it an 8.5 out of a need to kiss Square's collective ***.

However, the game (as evidenced from demos and reports on its quality) probably doesn't deserve more than a 7. And that would be too much. The Final Fantasy name will inflate its score.

I'm hoping it tanks across many sites and publications. It would be the wake-up call Square desperately needs to remedy the issues the series has taken on since the merger, and featured most prominently following the release of XIII in 2009.

@Shewgenja: Why the **** would you use Clueless gamer as a basis for anything?

It's meant for laughs, but the CG segment highlighted aspects of the game that seem highly troubling to say the least.

Personally I've yet to see anything in this game that looks even remotely impressive. Hard to find interest in going on a road trip with people you'd rather want dead.

I usually love my JRPGs(mostly oldschool) and I really want to like this game but this game is giving me some heavy mediocre vibes in multiple areas. Somethings telling me this is going flop assuming reviewers don't kiss SEs ass.

@jagoff: Not really. There's other gameplay videos that show a shit ton more than what clueless gamer did. Again, I don't understand how anyone can accept critique from someone who literally does not play video games.

My personal feelings are a 6/10 at best after watching and trying the demos. I'm sure critic scores will be higher, because you know, need to keep their sponsor revenue.

I just cant see this game living up to all those years of anticipation. And all the emo guys... just no.

They show a ton more, yet it still looks painfully unremarkable. Let's not forget that when Square Enix presented it during E3 it looked downright lousy.

Yeah, and in the interest of full disclosure, I'm one of those truly oldschool FF fans. I've been playing the games since the first one on the NES. Sadly, the only two FFs I have liked since the PS2 came out were XI and XIV. I give only a slight nod to XII but never beat it. The games just aren't nearly as impressive and deep as they used to be. If I wanted an action-rpg, there are many to choose from. The bro-dude dudebro aspect of this one also doesn't do much for me.

All in all, it's not that I rely on Clueless Gamer for much of anything, except when the harsh criticisms of the game are literally everything that makes me want to vomit about modern FF games. Again, I'm the type of FF fan that thought VII was good, but not Hitomi Tanaka tits like everyone else does. VI was better, VIII was dogshit, IX was a welcome apology for VIII, X was a corridor crawler without the spontaneity, XI was good fun because I like MMOs and the difficulty was really fun for me when it first came out. XII was weird and developed so slowly I lost interest, XIII is perhaps the reason why Japan keeps getting hit with earthquakes, XIV is utterly amazing and I love it to bits!

XV? Wedding Dress retrieval simulator? Co-op DLC? Day-and-a-half boss fights? $400 jeans wearing sadbois? Cars because chocobos because cars? It loses me. Maybe it will win me back. I won't be a complete stick in the mud, but when a super casual gamer can obviously gripe about all of the things that would set off an FF veteran such as myself, it's really not a good sign.

Final Fantasy XV:Sausage Party

Looks close to a weak 6/10 from what I've seen. Hopefully I'm totally wrong on this one but I won't be holding my breath.

Put me down for a 9. A lot of impressions of it are actually good so far.

Looks really weak, lacks any sort of consistent or coherent artstyle and even the gameplay seems to be a mess of 'We'll throw it in there and worry about minute details like refinement or actually making it fit later'

5/10 tops.

I nearly broke my no pre-order rule and bought it about an hour ago. There's a good black Friday deal for it in the UK but I just can't get past that whole dudebro thing with the main characters. I fucking hate boy bands, and guys who look like they should be in boy bands, and people who aren't in boy bands but buy boy band records thereby creating more fucking boy bands.

@silversix_: I quite enjoyed watching Sean bean do his usual routine. You'll understand what I mean if watch enough movies with him in.

camera looks like shit during battles

You replace these f*ck boys by Lightning or another decent character and i may be even interested in the game (if its as big and filled with content as i've heard many mention). instead, no matter what, its just impossible to get into when you'll be stuck for dozens of hours with the sausage squad camping wilderness in a sausage hut. Damn you SE.

FF scores pretty high consistently even when the community says the game sucks. Especially after W_D2 got an 8 here , im sure it can at least do an 8/10

I'm guessing reviewers, being the joke they are, will stomach giving the game an 80 average because it's a main Final Fantasy game.

Gamers as a whole will collectively find it to be the worst Final Fantasy ever.

Why not? Somebody who doesn't drive can still tell you that your car has flat tires. Would be pretty silly to ignore that, no?

Hoping it delivers. Not sure if I'll buy it day 1 but we'll see.

I just hope its not westernized ( gameplay wise, specially the battle system ) dnt care about the whole boy band thing, Im too old to act cool and be a hater of anything uncool, lol, long as its stays japanese style addictive gameplay, Im predicting a 9
