Unfortunately that means that some sacrifices will have to be made. The Retrospective you guys see starting July 15th will not feature everything we wanted to include, but hopefully we still have enough freedom to be as faithful as possible to the source material. We're just going to have to focus more on the games, and the assets provided within, than we had originally planned.

The major omissions will be the films: Legend of the Crystals, Unlimited, Spirits Within, and (sniff, sniff) Advent Children. That's right, no A.C. anywhere, anytime. Please understand these were not omitted by choice. To get them in we would have to contact Sony Pictures, Urban Vision, and ADV Films to get separate approval to use the footage, and that would have happened immediately after hell completely froze over.

The other painful cut is the music. There are plenty of tracks from the games available, but we won't be able to do any coverage whatsoever of the Black Mages (Uematsu's metal band) or any of the concerts like Dear Friends. So don't expect the Final Fantasy Retrospective to be as symphonic as the Legend of Zelda Retrospective, but it will still be more than twice as long.

i forgot just how much square crammed into that damn game.

Sakaguchi says 9 is his favorite?! waaaaat. Bleh, maybe it was "intended" but 9 was rife with cliche's and extrodinarily simple characters (relative to 7 an d 8). Ew. Nostalgia? watev's man. I'm all for progress.

GameTrailers did a very good job with "The Final Fantasy Retrospective". I wish Gamespot would do more stuff like that.

It brings back so many memories, I remember when I was younger playing the original Final Fantasy on the NES, then II (IV) and III (VI) on the SNES. I had to wait until the end of the 32 bit era to play Final Fantasy V in the "Anthology" bundle.

I was like the only person I knew who really got into JRPGs at that time. Until Final Fantasy VII came out, than I remember a few of my friends really getting into it.

I feel so alone, I actually liked the combat and junction system in Final Fantasy VIII. The only thing I didn't like about VIII, was they didn't really explain enough about Ultimacia to satisfy me.

IX is certainly one of the best and was a great way to mark the end of the franchise on the Playstation. It's sad most people in North America didn't like it as much as VII and VIII. I guess Square is to blame for not importing enough of the original NES/SNES titles. The people who were first pulled to the franchise with Final Fantasy VII & VIII weren't used to the original style of the game.

Well, X was a quality title. I didn't get into it that much though, I played it and finished it, but it didn't really leave a mark on me. Blitz ball was cool though. :D

I loved Final Fantasy XI, the nostalgia is what pulled me into it and the main focus of community team work is what kept me playing. The only problem I had with it, was it took up way too much of my time. To do anything in endgame required a large commitment on the players part, and having to rely on ones linkshell for events be it Dynamis, Limbus, lolSky or what I did 90% of the time playing that game - HNMs. Fafnir/Nidhogg - Aspid - KB, when all was said and done I had Red Mage, Black Mage and Summoner 75 before they gimped the xp needed to level up, after they did I leveled White Mage to 75. I started to level Warrior and that's actually what got me to quit, melee jobs are very boring to play and I didn't feel like trying to get an E-body and stuff for a job I would never play. So I gave my account to a friend of mine who started playing at the same time I did, and no that is not code for "I sold it on ebay".

I didn't play that much of XII, I don't know why I was so turned off by it. Normally I get very hyped for a new Final Fantasy, but that game just didn't do it for me.
