I just played FFT A2 on the DS, and have to say, this game is really awesome. I hear from the community it isn't nearly as good as the others.

SW: Which FFT is the best in your opinion, and why?

MO: I like FFTa2, it's deep, fun, and offers a wide variety of tasks to complete. Plus, the DS Lite is so neat.

I find it annoying when people put Tactics Advance down because it wasn't like the original. It's still a brilliant game in it's own right.

FFT is the best. FFTA was fun, but was a step backward for the series.

FFT might have better graphics than tactics ogre but tactics ogre its more harder and yeah FFT its really easy, FFT its all about the super weapons, and the overleveling of characters and some classes, also u use some characters that can be claimed as "god mode" so thats all.

No, it was just a step elsewhere. A lot of the flaws from FFT were removed too.

I still need to play FFT:WotL and FFTA2, but the original FFT is better than FFTA IMO because it is deeper.

Both are great games though, and I look very forward to playing FFT:WotL soon, and FFTA2 is actually making me really want a DS of my own.

Except they axed the story, added an awful law system, and completely removed any difficulty.

I think I like the idea of judges in the FFTA's. They add a random variablity in battle, and it makes relying too much on one character/job very difficult. It makes you balance your team, to some extent. It also makes things interesting. Although, I miss having the judge on the field, like in FFTA. In FFTA2 they dont walk around on the chickens like they used to, something I used to find very amusing, because they were so neutral, they wont even help people who are getting mugged or robbed, despite the fact they can teleport all over the place like no one's business.

FFT: War of the lions. Same as the PS1 original but improved much much better with the cutscenes and all.

FFT advance for GBA was really bad. If you want to play a good gba SRPG, get Tactics of ogre: Knights of lodis. Awesome game.

I've only played FFTA, and FFT: The war of the lions. It's hard for me to say which one is better, but i think it would have to go to FFTA, because i found the characters and locations a lot more memorable, plus i enjoyed the missions inbetween doing the story aswell. My only complaint is the judges. That being said, the war of the lions is absolutely incredible aswell, and i really can't wait for FFTA2!

The judges and laws are cheap IMO. The game and the strategy of it should dictate your balance of your team, along with your combat style.

The laws just arbitrarily mangled your tactics from time to time. I always had a mix to my teams, and nothing made me more mad than seeing that some would be useless in battle because their weapons/abilities were outlawed.

The main character from FFTA was such a legendary jerk, he's unforgettable. He saw his friends were finally living happy, fulfilling lives, and he TOOK THAT ALL AWAY, made them go back into the real world where they are really crippled and aesthetically displeasing. He's awesome.

Well, yeah. I mean he was being bullied in the time, right? I wouldn't blame him :P. But I felt that FFTA's story was pretty "kiddy" in comparison to FFT. Maybe because SE tried to make the game appeal to kids more because it was on the GBA. Did you play tactics ogre? That was probably the best SRPG on the GBA.

A new game (The gba one) If you're talking about WotL, yes it's a remake with great fleshed out cut-scenes.

Yeah. Maybe it's because i've played through FFTA dozens of times, while i've only played War of the lions once, but i found, with the exception of Ramza, delita and Mustadio, the characters were pretty forgettable, while i can remember pretty much every character in FFTA.

The advance gamesmake me sick. Who's idea was it to put ****ing laws into combat? That alone ruins the fun. Not to mention you can get the job "assassin" which essentially lets you instant-kill everything in the game with 100% success rate (if you have the proper skill). Where's the challenge in that?

The story is quite poor too. You got sucked into a fantasy book? oh brother...

Assassin was nerfed in FFTA2. And.. the laws just force you to add more strategy to the game, which is nice considering it's a STRATEGY RPG. Fans of FFTA don't play it for the story, they play it for the depth of gameplay. So much stuff you can do. 50 jobs = WTF, I'll have at least 400 hours on this (FFTA2).

The new Bazaar system in FFTA2 is pretty nice also. Clan Trials are challenging but worth the added effort.

The only major problem I see so far with it is some actions get confused with rule breaking. Yesterday I was in a battle where the law was "No ranged attacks." So naturally I avoided it but not only were the enemies using Charm on my Black Mage and making him cast ranged attacks, I also got called out when I did a critical hit and knocked someone back. I honestly don't think this is intentional on the developer's part considering there is a whole 'nother law for knockback.

Bleh. It was during a clan trial also so.. breaking the law = game over.

But if you liked FFTA you'll REALLY love FFTA2. I understand there's some people that aren't into games of this depth. ;D

You should of combined the PSP and PS1 tactis options, as they're the same game, just with soem additional content on PSP version. There's also mild lag on the PSP version.

Games of that depth? You understand that too much "depth" can make a game boring, right? I don't want to go through customizing 20 different things after finishing a battle. SRPGs are great not just because of their depth but how they make you strategize and play the game. Too much depth can make the game boring.

Laws were what I really hated about FFTA. It made it look like they were trying to stash in too much crap to make it into a good game. Ultimately ended up hurting them.

I loved FFT and I have it for both PSX and PSP. But I wouldn't touch any of the newer versions. They're just too childlike in their story, I wish square would stop acting like gamers have to be 8 year old kids. But that shows how not-serious they are about making any good games still. They just want you to pay for garbage and remakes.

FFT original and PS version, the Nintendo ones are storybook kids stories that aren't epic and deep like orginal one. FFT on PS1/PSP is the best and the others were downgraded from mature story to kids story..gameplay is still good in ffa1/2 but story is crap.

Voting FFTA means you haven't played FFT.. FFT was the best FF story overall, by far, FFTA is a children's story book sort of story and really lame at that.

I prefered the GBA version over the original PS1 version. The PS1 version was soooooooo slow. They're still both really great games if you like SRPGs but... Disgaea pummels them both into the ground with a huge horse wiener. :P

Definitely War of the Lions. I already loved Tactics and the new translation made me realize the story was awesome, too.

I haven't actually played the other ones, although from what I've heard they are much ligher in tone. I wish they'd make another epic Tactics game.

I prefered the GBA version over the original PS1 version. The PS1 version was soooooooo slow. They're still both really great games if you like SRPGs but... Disgaea pummels them both into the ground with a huge horse wiener. :P

Dataleak
Not even close.

I voted FFT on PS1 because it was the whole package = story and gameplay. (like most people, I don't own a PSP so even though I'm sure it has improvements, I couldn't vote for it).

FFTA had ok gameplay but a terrible story. Like others have said, it was way too tweenie.

I meant to buy FFTA2 but I was waiting for it to hit clearance price … in the meantime looks like I forgot all about. Oh well.

And to the poster who said that Disgaea kicks ass – you are absolutely correct. Disgaea is great on the PS2, PS3, and the DS.

FF Tactics: WotL (PSP), due to the better translation ,gameplay, characters and story, Personally it is my favorite FF title.
