final fantasy versus 13: the story is finalized

"Final Fantasy Versus XIII was first made public in 2006. Square Enix has shown screenshots and trailers. And now, Versus XIII's designer is happy to report, the game's story is finished.

In an interview in the recent issue of Dengeki magazine, it was revealed that the scenario for the game is apparently fleshed out and finalized. This actually shouldn't come as a surprise as the details of the story aren't the heavy lifting, but rather, the actual game programming.

The character designs have also been finalized, and the clothing designs are finished.

Keep in mind that the development of Final Fantasy XIII redirected resources from Versus XIII. So while Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the company still had to get Final Fantasy XIII out the door first.

Last year, Nomura said that development on the title was going "well", and the developers were working on various lighting tests for the game."

This begs to question of how many more years it will be until release.

I can only imagine how long the finalization will take.....

I give it one more year.

If there's any relation between XIII and Versus, chances are that this'll take place a few hundred years before XIII on Pulse which had no trace of human life by the time the events of XIII started. I haven't found all the analects as I couldn't bother myself to finish all of the missions, so I don't know for sure what happened since The War of Transgression.

Great, developement only started in 2003....

I hope the long gap was because of updates and changes to Crystal Tools and nothing else. >.>

Hopefully they ditch the cheesy names, like 'Lightning', or 'Snow', or 'Hope'.

thats not a good sign...they are just now finalizing story and characters? I don't expect this to release next year with that new info.

It won't have any relations, but it will deal with making choices, not in that typical WRPG way, but say leaving a someone in a town and coming back to see what he or she did. This was based off an interview a long time ago though and things change.

Yeah I was just talking about the XIII-Versus story relationship part.

how about SE finalize the game so i could actually get a release date

from the looks of it though were gonna get an angsty Prince who has his moments of being emo and then needs constantly reassurance that he can save the world...

Seriously people how did Shinji ever manage to save the world after all his constant daddy problems?! (kudos to those who figure out what i am referencing)

I miss the days when JRPGs had awesome casts of fairly diverse characters. The casts of Final Fantasy IV , Final Fantasy VI, and Final Fantasy IX easily blow away the casts of modern Final Fantasy games.

I never liked the casts of FF X or FF XII. Tidus still stands as the single most annoying main character in the history of the franchise. How we went from Cecil and Terra to someone like him boggles the mind.

I wish I could personally consult them on their storytelling.
