I missed the part where any Japanese game has ever come close to that title.

They story is not better then the classic FFs but it sure beats the crap out of the **** stories after 7, im ashamed that I even keep buying FF games I hope Square can someday blow me away again like the first time I played FF6 or 7MasterC5

they wont blow you away as long as you keep buying them, i know sometimes is hard to resist (i bought FF tactics for the PSP) but try to avoid buying anymore FF games until they finally understand we want the series to be what it used to be

I hate to break it to you TC, but one game is not gonna erase all the good classic's from Square and Square Enix.

I have pretty much hated most FF games that have come out after FF7, but I still have a HUGE amount of respect for them, because of there Nes, SNES, and Playstation 1 & 2 era's.

i will say that mass effect had one of the best stories in any game ive played, BUT saying its better than FF is just shootin your mouth off, here, you'll need this

Besides comparing WRPG's to JRPG's is like comparing RTS to FPS. They might both be classed (erroniously IMO) as RPG's but they are vastly different.

I guess so I haven't lost hope though I think LO will be a great JRPG I am still gonna play BD when it gets down in price. Mass Effect is a great game. The presentation is awesome and the universe codex is so detail ( on par with star trek universe codex) i can see many books and maybe even a table top RPG comming out for it I am glad this is planned to be a trilogy, i am sure i will overplay this game.

what overrated RPG's are you refferring too? or are you just going to call any RPG that on the xbox360 that gets an AAA rating overrated to make youself feel better?

Anyone calming MGS is anywhere near best storytelling seriously needs to go back and play the games...the plot is a incoherent mess with bizzare plot twists seemingly spewed out of hyperactive 13 year old's head. It isnt even Kojima best storytelling, Snatcher and Policenauts easilybeat MGSwavedash101

Flop- A game that has not lived up to System Wars expectations, such as when a game is hyped AAA and gets below AAA status, or when a game is hyped to a certain score and fails to achieve it. DOES NOT determine the worth of the game.

Like most RPGs, it was flopped for technical problems, not because of its story, which is what we're arguing about.
Just read the first line of the review: "Developer BioWare has always been at the forefront of progressive storytelling in games, so it's no surprise that Mass Effect's story is one of its best yet."

Having said that, I'd love to see how Mass Effect's plot and storytelling compares to, say, The Witcher's. I wouldn't normally consider Bioware to be one of the best WRPG 'storytelling' companies, but it seems like Mass Effect had changed that.
