last i hear square it going to do a universal launch and try to get it as soon as q4 this year. which actually means q3 next year at the soonest. but if you enjoyed ff12, they you should like ff13 b/c it is supposed to be in the same universe and one of the few direct sequels. so take my information with a grain of salt but that is what i have heard so far...Kansrite
Eh, about all that is completely wrong. FFXIII has nothing to do with XII. FFXIII and FF Versus XIII are set in the same Universe and are part of a set of three games called Fabula Nova Crystallis (the other game is mobile phone game called FF Agito XIII, which will probably be JP only). Even these three games, however, won't have much to do with each other in terms of story. The battle system, however, will be similar to FFXII's in that there won't be random battles, but it will still use the ATB mode. Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be an action RPG along the lines of Kingdom Hearts.
There are small bits of the story released for both games which you can look up on wiki or somewhere if you want. FFXII, btw, was set in the world of Ivalice, which was the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics. Again, though, FFXIII has nothing to do with it at all in terms of story. Also, FFXII's story turned a lot of people off because it was the first FF game where the story was centered around the political war between the countries, instead of character centered like all the other ones. FFXIII and Versus XIII seem to be centered around the characters again.
