Final Fantasy XIIIis due out this year in Japan. For those who are unfamiliar with its battle system, let's learn about it. Everyday you should learn about something, you know.

· Command Stock: Players selection which action they'd like to from a cluster of five "Action" slots.

· Cost: Each of these five actions has a number attached to it and denote the number of slots a particular action requires.

· Enhanced ATB (Active Time Battle): This refers to the bar under Lightning's name (the one with "444"). Players can perform various actions before it is empty. Commands with higher "Cost" drain the ATB bar faster.

· Symbol Encounter: Enemies appear on the game's map. There is no battle screen transition.

· Chain & Bonus: Found at the screen's top right. "Chain" refers to the number of consecutive hits inflicted. It's not clear what "Bonus" refers to, but Famitsuthinks it's related to Final Fantasy VII's Limit Break.

Enemy HP: The HP and names of your foes are displayed - unlike previous games.

Some other fun stuff to let you know about Because Im a veteran who played every FF in Japanese and english version, I know some of the words in the combat menu.

so it is like this.

- I think it is 90% the attack command......................- I don't know what the heck is this, maybe defense

- Fire 1 .......................................................................- Firaga 3

- Cure 1

Wow, their ATB sound intersting...First I've heard of it being done this way at least.

Sounds a lot like DBZ Budokai 3 and its Skills system. But just how turn-based is it? This is a gamebreaker for me. :(

Really the only thing I need to know is if its gonna be anything like the FFXII battle system. If it is I likely will be passing on this one unless it has a killer story which btw is something else FFXII lacked imho.

I hope that minor annoyances from ff12's battle system doesn't carry over, the one where your character stops just to pull out a weapon... it was a minor thing but very annoying when trying to level up....but i'm loving what i see

It looks more like normal FF with the menus and stuff compared to FF12. I'm liking that.

The battle system sounds like a mix of the classic FF games ( FF1 to FF10 ) and Crisis Core.
Or i could just say they improved the FF12 system.
