Cool!
This topic is locked from further discussion.
So it's a modified FFXII system. I did enjoy the system, but at the same time, I think I'll skip on XIII. Hate the artstyle.
Game of the generation.
Only 3 more weeks! :D

We shall see! :twisted:Those are all amazing games, especially Crysis and Witcher.
Are you importing the demo bud?
Now if it has a better cast of characters and story than XII, this will be a real advance for the series.

How do i go about this imporitng the demo? :P
I haven't clicked the link but if it's anything like XII's then I will greatly lower my expectations for this game. I would prefer 8's instead; Especially with the Gunblade. XII battle with Gambits turned on seemed like all I had to do was run and let them take care of the rest.So it's a modified FFXII system. I did enjoy the system, but at the same time, I think I'll skip on XIII. Hate the artstyle.

STALKER, Peggle, HL2ep2 and TF2 say hello :P
fix'd
Wouldn't this just mean it is more reminiscent of older Final Fantasies? That's what I was thinking. This is sort of like the "Active Time Battle" system we saw up until Final Fantasy IX, but unlike before, commands can be executed even if the time gauge isn't complete full.
Seems like a much improved version of FFX-2 and FFXII. That is one sweet battle system if you ask me.
This is a bad article and is misleading.
It's not like XII. It's turn based.
In reality, you switch over to a battle screen when you come into contact with various "symbols." It's called a symbol-engage system or something like that. So, no, battles are separate, 1UP.

Fallout 3 destroys the entire World, then says HelloFFXII wasn't real time it was turn based. Just because you can walk around on the battle field while fighting doesn't make it real time. This is a bad article and is misleading.

See this thread for better information on XIII's battle system.

The information is actually quite old.

Well, okay you're right. But its not like XII. You can't just walk around and fight things. Battles are separate again.
Okay maybe I was a little to quick to jump on the article but this is innacurate:
"The battles in Final Fantasy XIII are basically realtime; you can see enemies on the game map and fall into battle when you come into contact with them"
will the Japanese release of the full game come with english sub
PrinceofSarcasm
99% sure that it wont.
So there's a mix between some FFX-2 and FF12 elements in there. Before I lay down my opinions I need to see a video.
damit well thank god i get to try the demo out to see if its worth getting this crappy game that has the same battle system in 12 which i did not like at all
Me too, too bad :(noooooooooooooo, i was wishing for a modified tun-based battle system.......nooooo

why is final fantasy so awesome?HoldThePhone
Because the developers are actually creative and put effort into making the games varied and interesting.

Plus they don't follow the general outline of making things "dark and gritty" that we see so much now. In other words they use a bright color palette in their games :P.crud. It doesn't seem like there will be free motion, or any form of controlled motion at all. That sucks. It would have been awesome if you could have relatively precise controls over your position relative to your oponents, and it could still be semi turn based ala VP2. The trailer just made the battle system look like craptons of motion was involved, and I was hoping the player could control that to some degree without using menus.
[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]Wait, what's in three weeks?Game of the generation.

Hour long Japanese demo.
XIII might sell better ont he PS3 because of just how desperate the Final Fantasy fanbase is for XIII. They've already bought PS3s just to play the demo. o_o;

In any case, I still don't have a PS3 yet and even if I did I wouldn't trifle with an hour long demo. Hopefully square releases XIII in Japan before September. :s

Movie: $30
Demo: $24
Ripoff, but oh well. I suppose it'll just put some more money into XIII's development.
