Final Fantasy XV Dawn Trailer: Still No Release Date

This game seriously looks like it will be a return to form for the franchise.

Now give us a damn release date.

Its got to be close at this point. When it said 15 years I thought they were talking about the game lol.

What if they're trying to be all meta, and not planning to release the game till its fifteen years old from original announcement

6 more years and they'll have it. This would have been the perfect time to announce a release date. I mean they took the time to announce this trailer so why not.

My original post: I can't wait to see where, and how they take this game's story and gameplay. Still hoping the pc version of this game isn't just another straight shit port like all the other final fantasy ports they've released in the last few years. As their track record for them is just pathetic.\

A rather underwhelming trailer, regardless I'm still stoked for this game. I already spent 15+ hours on the demo, this will get even more.

Yeah, it's disappointing that after all of their Gamescom hype, they still won't even give us a release date. But hey, there's more they're gonna show over the next few days, so there is hope still.

Of course it's coming to PC- like you said, it is a matter of when, not if.

From what we've seen out of Kingdom Hearts 3 lately I'm starting to think they'll release rather close to each other.

That's because Nomura is crazy efficient, and because not being straddled with their shitty proprietary dungeon has to have helped.

Seriously though, just give me FF15 already, it's been a long time.

I'm looking forward to SE this gen. They seem to have gotten over the slump they were in last gen. Everything at E3 from them was great.

Yeah, they really seem to be getting their shit together- between Final Fantasy XIV/XV/7R, Bravely Default/Second, Dragon Quest XI, Kingdom Hearts 3, Star Ocean 5, and not even counting their Eidos stuff? They know what they are doing.

Now we just need a confirmation of DQ11 coming to the west and we're set.

@Ragnarok1051: Oh, it'll come. They're releasing DQ Heroes here, they clearly have plans for the franchise in the west.

I'm very tempted to get Heroes just to support DQ11. A part of me thinks that's exactly what SE is doing with it as well.

I hope nothing bad comes from that part with the little girl and the scary man in the dark room. Im still curious to know what they kept from the first draft of the story.

Seriously beautiful trailer. That music is stunning. And I love the juxtaposition of the knights with guns and vehicles. This is quickly moving back up my list of most anticipated games, just like it was six years ago!

After such a disappointing last gen showing from them, I can't help but be excited when I see that list. I'm still wary of them and revealing games too far away from release dates, but that line-up is certainly a return to form and it's exciting. I'm finding it a little difficult to stay mad at them. :P

EDIT: And I feel the same way about KH3. I really don't think we'll be waiting forever for that one again. We may be surprised with how close that and FFXV will release together. Could certainly be wrong though.

I like how he hugs him for 3 minutes lol. terrible trailer but cool soundtrack.

I know the underlying intention of the trailer was pretty strong, but without proper context, audiences simply don't feel anything for the trailer, it's as if the direction was too random and dragged on. This is why you don't release such kind of trailer without showing us much of the game, the marketing did a terrible job to hype up the game.

This one will be great... Demo is rock solid.

This game was announced at E3 2006 for PS3 and they still don't have a release date. Maybe the PS5 will be lucky enough to see it.

They actually said that they are not far off in development and are thinking of adding airships as DLC.

Square-Enix are still frauds, e-gad that framerate for FFXV. It's Scalebound tier, except Scalebound had a fucking dragon and all those effects going on. This asshole was walking and the frames were dead, the **** is this company even doing? It's just announcing shit.

I don't like that the main party is such a sausage fest; always liked that RPG parties have a mix of male and female members.

I've watched this trailer over 10 times so far lol.. i LOVE the soundtrack that starts from 0:10 to 0:50

The reaction people are having with the latest trailer and the ATR is hilarious. I understand that the fact they basically showed nothing new is very dissapointing but its exactly why its impossible to say that the final product is going to suck with the current lack of information.

Mmm that changed actually when import reactions came up. The linearity complaints and paired back elements became a major talking point, and GameTrailers was one of the first major websites on top of that shit from the get go.

Now that game also went over 80+ on metacritic, but that has to do with video game critics are dog shit and have no standards, because we can't all have standards like Champ. That said I would argue the demos they have released have given more positive impressions. More sense of freedom, an actual battle system because the one in FF13 is not a battle system under any fucking scrutiny and people only really defending it because flashy shit happens and they forgot that the whole system is made to be as idiot friendly as humanly possible, and at hints at the customization depth that you would want from a FF game.

Now whether or not they will deliver on the questing and the pacing (the other things that sunk FF13 to the piece of shit that it is), is another story entirely, but the FF13 to 15 comparison doesn't really fly other than Square is shit at managing their production. That and it'll have a shit story, but facts are that all FF games have had shit stories if you don't hold them to some lame ass "for a video game standard".

Point about pacing and story is what i gettign at. Combat system are ususally much easier to judge even based on footage.

The problem is that being open world doesn't mean much. Has game like DA Inquisition and Shadow of Mordor have shown that being open and filled with quests doesn't make you good.

Mind you, i did enjoy SoM due to combat (has simple has it was). But it's world, story and quests design was extremely bland.

With FF15, we simply cannot judge how good the quests will be overall, how vairated they'll be, how well told the narrative is, how much characters develop, etc, etc. FF13 did, to be fair, look quite epic, in a JRPG kinf od way. Until people realized just how fucking terrible that story really was.

Thankfully, it seems 15 is going to tone it down, but ense my "wait and see"

Oh the characters and narrative will be shit. That's a given. That is a fact of life my friend. That is the sky being blue. The grass being green. Fish being able to swim. Birds being able to fly. Horse being well endowed. Sunchips being fantastic.

These are all truths. You don't need to play it to no that the back street boys on a road trip is going to be stupid as ****. And since it's Square, they are going to take that shit seriously.
