I've made fun of this game for a long time, but I'll admit it looked promising. I just hope it's more like FFXII in terms of gameplay than the crap fest that was FFXIII.
And somehow it still doesn't even look like the best RPG coming out of Japan for a while.
Camera appeared quite iffy to me in the trailer. Maybe I'm just disillusioned now that Nomura is off the project or because I've neck deep in Bayonetta 2 gameplay for almost a month now.
Just release it S-E and hope you still have some goodwill after it's all said and done.
most likely one of the best FF games ever made since that untalented **** Toriyama has nothing to do with it and I mean absolutely nothing. You play FFX and you can almost feel Toriyama's kiss of death but it was fully realized in FFX-2 and then again with the entire Lightning saga.
It's odd that Nomura has stepped down so extremely late in development (I pray to god this isn't early in development still). But if Square-Enix is realizing they need to get their games out faster, I'm on board.

This is early in development. Here's what the official statement says about Nomura's role in the game:
'As the director of Final Fantasy XV, Tetsuya Nomura has mainly worked on the original concept for the story and universe in addition to creating the characters.'
This actually looks pretty good. But seriously, that blonde-haired guy looks practically identical to Cloud. And the more I see Noctus, the more ridiculous his hairstyle looks.
Xenoblade Chronicles X and Persona 5 are still going to be superior JRPGs.

Then his work on the game, as the director (that comes from the official statement from Square Enix), was limited to just that through all this time? That's some director they have there.
Namco and Atlus left this series in the dust a while back. Modern FF is to JRPGs what Gran Turismo is to Racing. Takes way the hell too long to get done, and is ultimately a let down. Meanwhile competitors get multiple titles to market faster and deliver a better experience. They need to totally reboot their approach to these games, they can start by having an actual fantasy based Final Fantasy again. That game doesn't look like FF at all.

FFXIII demo was released far in advance of FFXIII. It was the first time the team had anything playable, even internally. They didn't even start putting the game together until after the demo was released and they got feedback.
Even if you're right about this one though, that spells an even worse scenario as the gameplay looks clumsy and dull. For you suckers that are still looking forward to this seaming pile, you should be hoping that it's still early in development.

Final Fantasy has had one turn based game in the last 25 years, that was FFX.
I like action games as much as the next guy, just not shitty ones. Enjoy your Kingdom Hearts in a vaguely FF stylized window dressing.
all the characters look stupid. everything else looks ok i guess.
first reply nails it. Yet again, FF characters looking like a j-pop band for teenage japanese girls. Those hairstyles are terrible. Graphics looks good, as does animations. Combat looks good but still not entirely convinced about that. Music sounds great!
